Any insight, and which model do you use?
I was looking at the Valentine v1, and also hear good things about the Escort Redline
Does anyone have a Bel Sti?

I have the Valentine One. Best detector in the market imo

. I never go on long road trips without it.

beltronics vector 995

was thinking about a scrambler a few days back, any thoughts on this?

doesn't matter. Now cops are using Litars, no longer uses the Doppler Effect. Therefore you're screwed.

Lidar**, I would say that the majority of applications are still Ka based; however, there has been an influx in laser units which have been followed by enhanced laser detection units.  several studies have shown that the valentine one is most effective in its early detection; however, valentine one is also notorious for false detection due to its sensitivity
some really informative sites:

there is also a veil product that is applied to reflective areas of your vehicle (headlights, license plate, etc) which have been stated to greatly reduce the effective range or even detection with a laser.  though i haven't performed any follow-up research

also if legal in your state, jammers would also help.

there are many avenues and preventive measures to take, so one would be far from "screwed"

I use the iRadar with my iPhone and that has saved me a couple of times. I'm sure it's not the best but for $100 (sometimes $80 on Amazon) it works pretty well.

I'm sure the v1 is a beast.

I had a escort passport, first day I got it I drove by a spot where there is a cop speed trap every day and the thing didn't do $*&@.

I knew radars were illegal in VA but had no clue that they have systems that can detect them. no ticket tho.

yea, I heard putting shoe polish on your headlights works.

Ive got the Escort 8500 X50. It works pretty well but driving around town with it is a pain with all the false alarms from stores. Really only use it on the interstate.
