QB THREAD - 2x quarterbacky award winner: Lamar Jackson

Im not a big fan of quarterback rating because its hard compare vs eras.

I do think its helpful in determining how much a quarterback "stepped" in the postseason But heres how some notable dips in career postseason ratings

regular season vs postseason rating

Kelly
84.4/ 72.3

Manning

97.5/ 89.2

Marino

86.4/ 77.1

The record he didn't want: Broncos QB Peyton Manning lost the 13th playoff game of his career, the most in NFL history.

Jeff Howe @jeffphowe
Barring a miracle, Peyton Manning will fall to 11-13 in the playoffs, including nine one-and-dones.

has to be considered when ranking the guy as an all time great. for me it's why he's not top 3. you have to show up on big stages. you're not going to ball out every time, but this is has been pretty consistent throughout much his career. it's actually mind blowing when you consider his ability and other achievements.

Eh Not really

Only a couple QB's have been to playoffs as much as he has..look what squads they had on both sides of the ball

Dan Marino is the GOAT right? check his playoff record and stats

Shallow arguement imo

Not to take away from Peyton's screw ups cause he has had his faults but a team playoff record isnt the best evidence to use evaluating where a
QB fits all time

Moon was an awesome passér but I don't have him in top 5. Towards the back of top ten honestly

His offensive weapons weren't complete junk. Jeffires, Hill, Givens and Duncan were solid, especially Haywood and Ernest. Did Moon ever make an AFCCG?

The comeback was wild card round

Actually went back and looked at Moon's/Oilers playoff record. Yikes, not a good record at all starting with 87

Still an all time great passer

Yes!

The Bills game :lol

Pretty sure it was that game

Another game you didn't watch but will give a bunch of opinions on tho.

Buffalo won that with their backup QB, that's how good their supporting cast was.

Beebe stepping out on his touchdown and not being seen was an all time blunder pre instant review era.

Speaking of backups

The Dolphins supporting cast wasn't as awful as you are making it out to be

The 1993 Dolphins managed to go 9-7 with Marino missing the last 11 games

Scott Mitchell even got a player of Month award

If the Dolphins supporting cast was so horrible don't you think they would have totally imploded without Marino instead of managing to 5-6 without him?

Yeah his record isn't very good but his passing performances kinda stayed the same regular season vs the playoffs

The team that was gifted the Leon Lett Thanksgiving win, to go 9-2, leading the NFL.......

Then lost 5 straight, to not make the playoffs. :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

Lett game would have been a 6th straight loss. Meaning 8-8. Dan a part of the first 5 of those wins.

3-7 the rest of the way. :lol :lol

You. Didn't. Watch. That. Team. Stop trying dude, you look stupid as ****

A team with their 3rd string quarterback with a poor supporting cast shouldn't even be in a game with the championship era Cowboys on the road.

They went 5-6 without Marino which isn't horrible when they played with 4 different quarterbacks that season

In regards to the watching stuff

Why the eff would I just randomly want to talk about Run TMC, Marino and David Robinson? :lol

Like seriously get a clue :lol

nobody knows better than their squad than die hard fan like CP and myself.. CP was old enough to live thru that season so you could google **** all you want but still won't know the fins better than him because he breathed/died every miami dolphins season.

i mean i can tell you bunches of important/useless stats and info on the pats without googling it up. because i followed the team closely and the ebb/flow of the season and so forth.

The Dolphins weren't some obscure team though

They came on NBC like every few weeks or so

You were going to see Marino maybe a little less than you'd see Manning now

I already have a clue. You're counting Pro Bowlers, talkin about Ferrell ******* Edmonds, talking about ratings up or down, trust me I get it. :lol

I've told you a bunch of times, just move on man. We get it. You've made your point, carry on.

I've never seen more talk about random Miami teams from the early 90s in my life :lol

Yes Ferrell Edmunds 2 time Pro Bowler

Then I was going to say Eric Green but he got his Pro Bowls with Steelers

Also forgot about Keith Jackson and Keith Byars

All those dudes were Pro Bowlers at one time

Sorry it doesnt fit the narrative that Marino had a poor supporting cast :lol

And Edmunds can be a pro bowler twice, he wasnt causing any headaches for defensive coordinators
