Rivers had ripe opportunities to win a SB. His window may have closed. Those SD squads were beyond stacked on both sides of the ball. Some falls on Marty, some on LT, some on Phil. The question I have about Stafford is what do y'all expect from him?
Let's say he cuts his ints down 4 or 5 a season. Is he better than Phil Rivers or nah?
Marty Ball.I will always be amazed as to how those SDs teams didn't At least get to a Super Bowl.
I attribute a lot of his '13 success to Whis and Allen. Fair or not.Rivers had a revival last season...not sure it happens again. especially with the divison loading up on defense.
you gotta win at the end of the day. not necessarily a title...but consistently win games and make some playoff runs. it's a team game and QBs do need help, but the top QBs find a way to put their team in positions to win, consistently.
and the turnovers are part of that. protect the ball.
That shot put throwing motion.Give Phil Rivers a dome, and Calvin Johnson, with the way he throws the deep ball, and Phil would out perform Stafford so bad he'd be brought up on bullying charges.
That said, just for entertainment value, I want them to just let Staff throw it silly this year with CJ, Ebron, Tate, and Reggie. I wanna see 6K, with a legit shot at a 2K WR. Int's be damned.

We all saw what Phil Rivers looks like when he doesn't have arunning game
o-line.
I'm very harsh on Matty Checkdown. Similar to Rivers, he's had strong offensive squads.
I know this thread is for QBs and not NFL talk in general.......but I am curious how you feel the AFC West got better. The Broncos are the Broncos. Chiefs are expected to take a major step back. The Chargers didnt improve significantly. And even if the Raiders improve as much as the Chiefs regress (which I dont expect THIS season), where is the improvement?no doubt the afc west got better and the nfc west is tougher.
just feel those couple struggle years were the outlier , not last seasons revival. had to throw down for the most passionate guy in the league.

What is supposed to be on the right side of that equation?
You know you don't even believe that.
