Portal 1 was a terrific puzzle game, with good voice acting and a great sense of humor. It's not a first person combat shooter, but  it had some combat elements, however brief.

Portal 2 is adding co-op to its puzzles, which will no doubt add hours of laughs falling through portals with your friends.

I can't wait for it!

to all SSF4 guys, seems like capcom will be releasing a Arcade Edition in June. it will be costing us $40.00, so hopefully there will be a DLC, cause there's no point in buying the full game again.. screens were seen at amazon.com
L.A. Noire to feature pubic hair, marijuana, excessive gore and PS3 exclusive content

ESRB rating highlights all the gross bits, TV spot reveals free stuff
Team Bondi and Rockstar have talked at length about the fancy schmancy facial animation technology used for L.A Noire, but they've been suspiciously silent about the game's depiction of pubic hair, blood spurts and marijuana packets. Thankfully, we have the detectives at ESRB who are more than willing to expose the seamier side of life as a 1940s gumshoe.

LAESRBFront--article_image.jpg

The ESRB report for L.A Noire is pretty much what one can expect from a Rockstar project. Of the violence in particular, the site writes:

“Players use pistols, rifles, machine guns, and flamethrowers to engage in firefights with various enemies—these shootouts are highlighted by realistic gunfire, cries of pain, and blood spurts that stain injured characters and the surrounding environment. Cutscenes also depict instances of violence, including a character being beaten with a crowbar (off screen)—large spurts of blood are depicted in the foreground. During the course of the game, players may come across crime scenes in which badly beaten or mutilated corpses are subject to investigation.
Report: Burnout Crash is 'action arcade style', set in Crash City
by JC Fletcher on Apr 13th 2011 11:00AM

Last week, a rating appeared for the unannounced "Burnout Crash" on the Australian classification board's site. We followed up with the board to find out more about EA's mysterious "multiplatform" game, and received the following synopsis of the submitted content: "An action arcade style game set in the fictional world of Crash City. The aim of the game is to cause as much damage as possible to traffic and buildings by crashing a car into them."

Essentially, it's the idea behind "Crash Mode" in previous Burnout games, or Paradise's "Showtime." And if this single mode is the sole focus of Burnout Crash, it's likely to be a smaller downloadable game. It's also likely to be a bit depressing, if the setting is a city so beset by car crashes that it has "Crash" in the name.

Not sure how to feel about destruction only gameplay..

Anonymous: Prepare For The Biggest Attack You Have Ever Witnessed
anonymous-hackers.jpeg

GeoHot has taken a settlement with sony. The case has been dropped. In the eyes of the law, the case is closed, for anonymous it is just beginning.
by forcing social networking sites such as YouTube and Facebook to hand over IP addresses of those who have viewed GeoHot’s videos, they have performed an act of privacy invasion.
We, anonymous, will not allow this to happen.
The attacks on the websites of sony have been ceased, sony’s poor attemps to explain the system outages through maintenance amuse us. Therefore we are finding other ways to get sony’s attention.
This April 16th, grab your mask, a few friends, and get to a local sony store by you. Use the IRC and the official Facebook page to organize a protest in your area. Make sure the people know the injustices performed by this corrupt company.
Boycott all sony products and if you have recently purchased any, return them.
It is time to show large corporations and governments that the people, as a collective whole, can and will change injustice in society, and we will make a great example out of sony.
Sony. prepare for the biggest attack you have ever witnessed, anonymous style.

Portal 2 for PS3 Steam details: Steam Cloud, Steam Play, Steam-y
portal-2-us-box.jpg

At E3 last year, we learned that Portal 2 on PS3 would mark the debut of developer Valve's much-lauded Steam service on consoles, but we left wondering what that meant, exactly. Over the last ten months, we've managed to piece together a pretty comprehensive set of features; however, today, Valve issued a short press release that runs down a list, and even offers some new details.

Of course, Portal 2 on PS3 will offer cross-platform matchmaking with Steam friends, Steam achievements (in addition to PS3 trophies), and Steam Cloud support to save co-op and single-player game progress on PS3. Note: "Game saves and progress from a PlayStation 3 are incompatible with other platforms."

To access all these features, Portal 2 on PS3 will feature the familiar Steam overlay, giving players a quick way to access "both PSN and Steam friends," for text chats (and we presume voice chats), profiles, friend requests, and game invites. In order to access all these Steam-y features, you'll need to link your PSN account with your Steam account. Don't have a Steam account? You can make one "with the click of a button," Valve promises. And if you're wondering how that "free" Steam Play version on Mac or PC will work, Valve says, "linked players of the PS3 version of Portal 2 can also access and play their copy of Portal 2 on any PC or Mac by redeeming an in-box access code on their computer."

If this works as well as we think it will, we don't think we're alone in suggesting that all games ever should do this. Check out the associated Steam support page for plenty more in the way of details (and even some pics).

Madden NFL 12 will launch on August 30, regardless of NFL lockout
madden-11-072710.jpg

Despite the ongoing situation between the NFL and Players Association, which could ultimately mean no football this year, EA Sports president Peter Moore quelled doubts at a recent event. The situation will not affect his studio's hit football franchise's next installment, Madden NFL 12.

"We'll be shipping this year, regardless of what the labor issues are, whether they're resolved or not," Moore told a group of journalists during an EA Sports event last night in San Francisco. "Madden 12 will be shipping on August 30th 2011, regardless of what happens with the league itself." So, there you have it. You may not get to see your players hit the field in real-life this year, but you can rest assured you'll be seeing their virtual representations, right on schedule.

Anon talking about injustice like this is the biggest tragedy to occur in recent memory.
Come on, man. These dudes could do so much good in the world.

I wonder how many people will actually "protest" against Sony, though. I have a feeling this is going to suck more than that YouTube video of an Apple store on the Verizon iPhone's release day.
