NBA Jam Will Be Bundled With NBA Elite 11

Will this help EA Sports reclaim some of the basketball world?

August 3, 2010
by Nate Ahearn

EA Sports announced today that NBA Elite 11, the new basketball sim that spawned from the once-great NBA Live franchise, will come bundled with a one-time download code for a new, high-definition version of NBA Jam for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

If you've seen any of our coverage of NBA Jam for Wii (winner of our Sports Game of the Show Award at E3), then this announcement should have you mighty excited to see what EA Sports can do with the added horsepower of HD consoles.

The bundle of NBA Elite 11 and a download code for NBA Jam will hit store shelves on October 5 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 for $59.99.

Wii users concerned about their version being overshadowed should rest easy knowing that the Xbox 360 and PS3 downloads feature a scaled back set of game modes. For the $59.99 price tag of NBA Elite 11, players will be able to enjoy the Classic Campaign (a simple ladder-style tournament that pits you against the rest of the league) and an Exhibition Mode. The HD versions, however, will support online multiplayer over Xbox Live and PlayStation Network, a feature that has yet to be confirmed for Wii users.

As fate would have it, I recently took a trip up to Vancouver to get my hands on an early build of NBA Jam and we'll have the first hands-on and direct-feed footage this Friday on IGN. For now, feast your eyes on our pair of screenshots and be sure to note the fantastic facial expressions.

The discounts are pretty good on most titles. The auto-download feature is awesome too. You set a time for your PS3 to turn on and download Firmware updates, game updates, ect.

Anyone in here had both the 40gb (Fat) and the newer slims? I'm thinking about trading my fat in for $200 @ gamestop and spending $50 of my own money plus $50 gift card to upgrade to the slim. I know the slim can bitstream the HD audio codecs for Blu-Ray and its supposedly quietter as well? My ps3's fan has been going crazy loud lately so yeah what do you guys recommend?

No complaints with my SLIM PS3

Lol, its the stupid fan loudness I'm trying to get away from. I'm assuming its hotter now cause its summer plus my room is hot as hell that's why the fans are overcompensating its pissing me off. Alright I'll take that into consideration thanks.

PSN has been unable to sync trophies since around 4pm Pacific Wednesday.

I'm probably the only one who cares, but

No word from Sony yet, but there is a 7 page thread on the PSBlog site.

I know this is kinda random but it fits nowhere else, here goes
Why is it that when the PS3 slim was announced and it was revealed that they would use matte instead of the shiny material on the old models, ppl said the system looked/felt cheaper but when the PSP went from Matte to shiny, dudes said it looked/felt cheaper?

Is it a case of ppl complaining because they didn't like the new models because they were different?
