again, nobody was talking about twerking before hannah montana put it out there. nobody outside urban youth knew what it was. yall are just mad a white girl did. yall jimmies are hurt

I don't really think she did anything.

All she did was put white ppl onto it.

Twerking originated in New Orleans. "Rachet" originated in Baton Rouge. "Trill" originated in Texas prisons as yard slang. White people had nothing to do with any of this lmao. He russled your jimmies something serious with that one.

the latest rihanna song is mainstream, the latest coldplay song is mainstream, the latest katy perry song is mainstream. rack city and bandz a make her dance are NOT mainstream
from your point of view define mainstream. I see it as if it gets played in heavy rotation at that station that focuses of top 40..it's mainstream......."Bandz A Make Her Dance" technically is mainstream
i see mainstream as, if my parents or grandparents know about it then its mainstream. if i turn to cnn and they make a joke about twerking then its mainstream. if people that dont know a single rap song know what it is then its mainstream

My mom knows ppl like Jay-Z, Beyonce, Miley Cyrus

She has no idea about Bandz or who Juicy J is

Crossing over to pop stations isn't the same as mainstream

Mainstream is news stations, soccer moms etc as mentioned

like the same eminem song being played at every break in any college football game is mainstream. a song that gets played a lot in the local hiphop music station and clubs is not

Why are ya'll acting like twerkin is something we should be proud of?

Ya'll not gon be liking that **** when you see yo daughters on youtube shakin they ***

So i guess king louie val venis is mainstream since they always play it at a spurs game :{

I hope my next statement doesn't rub any of you the wrong, or give any sense or thought that I'm racist. But the last few post pretty much state that it isn't mainstream until it hits white America. At least that's what I'm taking from a few, though you're not directly saying it or may not know.

That's exactly what it is
It's mainstream when white America jumps on the bandwagon

White america controls what is deemed popular, if they don't know about it, "it's not popular"

Before white America knew what it was you could say 'skeet skeet skeet' on the radio.

this. i buy music to support artists i like even when i can get it for free. yes i know that the artist hardly gets any money but if you put out a good product ill support it
I still buy physical cd's
I upload em to iTunes but I like having the physical case looking through the credits and thank you's
Last albums I bought was that
black panties r Kelly cd
Beyonce album
And reupped on the special edition of doggystyle
The way I always did it was that I'll listen to it first, if I like it, then I'll buy it, but if I like only 4 out of like 15 songs, then I'm not buying it. Some consider that being shady, but hey, there's nothing worse than a cd that's going to get no spins.

Girls are gonna be girls man. You can't stop it.

No denying Mylie made it mainstream. She's America's little sweetheart (or was at least), so anything she does will be mainstream. The fact remains though, they were late as hell on it and played the word out.

That long tetris piece....overrated
People 13 and up shouldnt play pokey man
Glee is a terrible show
red octobers are the worst of the yeezys
There is no need for shoe review videos lol
Cosplay isnt a term...its grown people dressing up

I still buy CDs, it isn't the "in thing" I guess, but I don't care, I buy them and bump them in the ride, I back them up on iTunes, but CDs to me represent the last shred of what I deem normalcy before everything went download crazy. Not knockin anyone or how they cop music, because sometimes download is the only way to go like Killer Mike and El-P "Run the Jewels" which I promptly downloaded and put on cd for the car.

well pop music is by definition mainstream since its short for "popular music"

its not mainstream till white america knows about it because a majority of people in america are white

Fwiw I still have a lot of cassettes, I bump those in the house when I'm cleaning because some of that isn't on cd or iTunes format, for example, I can't find De La Soul 3 feet high and rising anywhere.

I understand that but females are just lowering the bar for themselves. I mean as a dude I can't say that I don't enjoy watching that ****, but damn, I wouldn't want to raise a lil girl with the amount of ******* that's going on.
