Oh well. I knew what I got into when I bought the Jeep in 09. lol
When I do get on the highway if I dont drive like a d!ickhead, I get about 16 mpg.
Lol I got about 16 in my GTO driving like a dickhead. I'm a showoff to an extent. When I drive I'm 1 with the machine so in my head everybody had to know I owned the road. Respectively of course....
Yea man this Jeep isnt for mileage. Prob is because of the gearing as well.
On the highway at 80mph I am at 3k rpms :x
Btw your boy never hit me up.Yea you cant justify it but hey the car is enjoyable lol
Btw your boy never hit me up.
Its all good, I ended up wet sanding that trouble spot I had then buffing it out with scratch x, compound and polish. It worked.
Man u live in Canada!? I'd be driving a Skyline if i lived there, no doubt about it

The dealer wanted to schedule an oil change at 3.5k
I didn't schedule as to me not knowing when I will hit it.
Now that I'm researching and reading on the subbie forums, they recommend an oil change at 1k and then 3k miles intervals. I also want to use Amsoil Signature 5w-30 rather than the subaru oil, so I just can't wait to hit that 1k miles so I can at least rev it to 5k. I won't be doing hard pulls till about 1.5-2k, though, just to be safe.
It's strange, most people swear by Rotella T6 5w-40 for their STI's, but I think it's only necessary if you're going to be driving it really hard/hitting the track a lot.
Anyone have any experience with breaking in a car and changing oil at 1k?
Also, I want to get a magnetic drain plug. Can anyone inform me on the benefits of this?
Dudes are so anal about their cars on there I love it
I'm usually used to just taking my car to a reputable shop and paying for maintenance/service. I feel like I get to get more personal with my STI and it's
I'll probably run Rotella T6 if I ever mod my car and begin to track it, though. They say these engines love that oil.
Anyone else in here super anal about engine oil/ oil change intervals?
Instead of a magnetic plug this old dude at autozone recommended i buy some magnets and duct tape them around my filter so all the metal parts stay trapped in the filter

subaru service will tell u that it doesn't need to be changed every 3k. these days its just a myth, oil companies aren't engineering motor oil to last only 3k, it makes no sense. now there isn't anything wrong with doing it every 3, but 4 wouldn't hurt either.
initial break in oil change sounds about right. here is a website i use for my wrx. www.cars101.com (site specific for subaru)
all info on the STI you could ever want, everything from cost, to specs, to maintenance schedule.
forum boys like to throw in motul oil. idk why. i don't track my car, so i jsut make sure i get the appropriate 5w-30 from autozone. i use subaru filters tho.
i've had trouble getting my magnetic plug to sit tight. it would very slowly drip. i think the crush ring it came with was trash. now that i think about it, i probably should've tried with a new OEM crush ring. for now i use OEM plug with new rings form the dealer.
another note about breaking in. there is some debate about this, and you can go over to naisoc to read up more about it. but i wouldn't stress too much about break in period. i wouldn't red line it until the period is over, but i'd imagine that those engines are tested and redlined before they are dropped into the engine bay, long before they get shipped form japan.
i recall freaking out like i couldn't take it on the highway, but it really isn't that big a deal b.
www.cars101.com. everything u wanna kno about ur 15 STI. your welcome.
@WhatCanISay
Thanks, fam!
I read that a lot of people are using Greddy magnetic plug so I might be giving that a go. Yea, this break-in stuff is kind of stressing me out.
I've tried not to keep a constant speed and basically shift at 2.5-3k and rarely at 4, although I've gone to 5k once or twice on accident. I just want my engine to be immaculate since I plan on keeping my launch edition for quite a while. I'll probably rarely redline it after break-in but may begin at around 1.5-2k miles. Idk I just don't want to mess anything up some people red line it straight off the lot, let the engine cool and just go at it again for break-in. They say they always do it this way but I don't think I can ever do that no matter how well they say it works
Thanks again, though, man.
Any recommendations on filters for my 1k change? I think some people use rx8 filters, but I feel safer with subaru filters. Am I good to go with subaru filters?
just texted my sales guy and my 15 sti has a ETA at the end of June
the deposit was placed back in April brehhhhhhhs
