I honestly think folks are sayin that because LV is supposed to be more high class or something. straight up if you buyin LV and gucci yo' @+! high class enough regardless. Just keep it real, EEVRYNES clearly buyin WAY more gucci, so why you knockin yourself indirectly?
A lot of what you said is a matter of opinion but in my eyes LV > Gucci always.
The reason you don't see a lot of LV clothes in this thread is the price difference and the fact that a lot of the LV clothes isnt that easy to obtain. Notevery LV store sells ready-to-wear pieces and those that do often sellout pretty quick. Gucci's ready-to-wear stuff is available online, instore, atvarious retailers, and eventually at outlets and places like bluefly. If im spending some crazy amount on an article of clothing im hoping I dont run intoanother 15 dudes wearing the same thing and another 100 dudes 6 months later after it goes on sale. That's just me though.

^^^ I was about to say the same thing.
I'm not saying LV > Gucci overall.
Gucci designs are better while LV's quality is higher than Gucci's.
But the availability and lack of a discount will deter most people from buying LV.
Believe me, if LV clothes went on sale (and readily available in most high end department stores), even at a mere 20% off, it would be all over this place.

You can visit an LV boutique and 3 out of 4 times, they wouldn't be selling mens clothing.
Do not even bother with the boutiques inside the department stores.

I could agree that LV has the name and quality but they are smart enough that it has a prestige and rarity because of the fact that it is not sold everywhereand never goes on sale.
It had the same appeal Bape had, thats why it sold so well. The fact that you will not see anyone on the street wearing the same thing as you is part of thatappeal.
The exclusivity and prestige definitely adds up in the price.

Not to mention that LV doesn't have as much clothing as Gucci. Gucci has plenty of variety. If I really think hard about it, it's about the same onwhat clothes are good looking.
Gucci is just more loud and noticeable, while LV has more of a neutral and classic look. Check out the Gucci Ready-to-Wear line I posted in the last page andyou'll see that there are probably more clothes you wouldn't bother wearing compared to the ones you would wear.
While with LV, most of them can be easily worn by everyone since it's usually a classic sportscoat, or sweater, or a leather jacket. Most of they areneutral color too, like grey and black, while Gucci chose to go the route of louder colors like green, yellow, red, blue, etc...

the thing is though no one has fallen off like gucci. From the tom ford era to now is just plain pathetic. 90%+ of their stuff is now either gaud/tackymonogrammed items or plain eurotrash. They still have the occasional nice piece but it's all too often lost in the rest of the garbage. LV keeps a clean,sophisticated style that is sleek and practical. IT isn't over the top, it doesn't scream out at you, it's just nice and simple, yet well executed.You can never go wrong with that.

I like both LV and Gucci to me they both have their strong/weak points. I will repeat what the others said, if LV was easier to find and buy you will see moreof it. 9 out of 10 times I can walk in the LV store in the mall near my house and they wont have anything my size if anything mens at all.

If you go to Vegas, I believe they have 6-7 LV stores, and only one store has mens clothes.
In limited sizes too.

Quality = LV
Selection = Gucci
Clothes = I'll give it a tie but when it comes to good-looking to bad-looking ratio, LV wins
Sneakers = Gucci
Shoes = LV
Luggage = LV with a very slight advantage as I have come to like plenty of Gucci messenger and backpacks
Wallet = LV
Belts = Tie

rare23- of course everythings matter of opinion, but it generally seems alotta folks will speak DIRECTLY against their actual opinion to portray some OTHERopinion for various reasons, and I just don't get that. I'm in NYC, 3-7days a week, all types of places, from offices, to recording studios, to nightclubs, where everyone wants to be wearing GUCCI/LV whatever, and I ain't never gonna see 15 dudes wearin the same piece period, unless its something sillylike a hat or coin pouch that you can get various places, like the netdepartment stores, from both companies. I just don't agree with that. 90% of whatsreally fly from gucci sells out crazy fast before it EVER sees a sale, outlet, bluefly whatever anyways, atleast in the sizes people want. Beyond that gucciCLOTHES were never even available on the net till like two weeks ago. I've been to plenty LV stores and plenty sell ready to wear, the +#$* just be soplain its like WHATS THE POINT. I KNOW quality in clothes, probably better then 99% to 100% here since I actually WORK in fashion (the production/merchandisingside, not just workin at a store or something), but honesly LV's main selling point is its BRANDING just like gucci,ysl etc.

I'm not gonna lie the hottest +#$* to me from both brands have both the quality AND the branding, sometimes subtle, sometimes loud, and if it wasn'tlike that forbasically EVERYONE why aren't these posts full of EPI or utah leather suitcases, belts, and coin pouches, instead of daimer. The ready to wearcollection is DUMB thin period. I was in both gucci and LVs 5th ave stores like 3 days ago the collections don't compare at all. If its not really likethat PLEASE SHOW me. Show me whatyou got that I'm missing.
Even the whole Loius shoes thing. LV barely does anything that ain't dress shoes anyways. Beyond that its been basically the same styles with a few notablesneaker additions in like the last 5 years

RFX- enh, I duno maybe its just where I live... It's pretty much just as easy to buy both and department stores really ain't THAT worthwhile fo Gucciclothes either. I just see more gucci because they make a larger offering and really just more interesting WEARABLE clothes. Yeah I know LV don't do salesblahzay blah, but honestly people who be waiting for sales fro GUCCI aren't really doing themselves any favors anyways. GUCCI only has like one worthwhilesale a year anyways, when they do like 40% off on clothes, and by then most worthwhilepieces and sizes are gone anyways. Everything else is just 10-20% on thesame old sneaks/ belts whatever. It's a VALID point, but I mean you shop these places, do sales really drive you CLOTHES purchses? EVEN shoe ones? causewhen I've tried to shop around these situations it seems more often then not by the timeI'm done waiting the size I need is sold out before the sameANYWAYS.

LV is somewhat more rare, but FAR from a rediculous amount, and again is that exclusivity the BIGGEST reason folks are saying its hotter?

As far as what they make i mean yeah gucci makes penty of stuff I'd never wear cause it looks to weird, but they make WAY more things I would wear too.Personally the reason why most LV IS boring to me is because of EXACTLY what you say, 98% of its stuff is just super boring and safe, while guccis pieces havesome type of edge to them. I don't see no one wearing all these LV waist coats, plain sweaters, etc etc. Why's anyone gonna buy a $2200 sweater thatlooks like EVERY other sweater, NO qualityor rarity can explain that to me, and how rare can it really stay if no current branding detail schemes can realy beapplied to it? If it was really that dope, +%!* it they'll make it again. RFX I've seen what you buy, you WAY more into gucci then LV.

Another big advantage I feel Gucci offers is that they do exclusive pieces for department stores, web exclusives, etc. that are actually of DOPE items, andthen they still aren't vailable anywhere but those department stores etc.

^^^ In some ways, a sale does drive people to buy it.
I'll give you an example. I find a polo or shoes I like.
I'm not dying to have it but I could see myself wearing it once in a while.
Now if the price were $300, then I might hesitate.
However, if I see it on sale a month later for $170-$180, then it becomes much more attractive.
Here in SoCal, it is also available in plenty of places, including Nordstroms.
They go on sale pretty often, maybe 3-4 times a year, one sale for every season is my guess.

With LV, to some, the prestige is a plus.
In a consumer country, it is an extra knowing not everyone could have what you have.
But I don't think most people are saying it hot just because of that.
I particularly broke it down in my other post.
Check out my personal analysis.
lol

Honestly, I don't even buy that. SHOW me what you are talking about, I'd be VERY inerested in seeing pictures of things which help youmake this point. I don't mean to disrespect you personally, but I just think people say stuff like "these design since TOM FORD, or such and suchother character changed this or that". SHOW ME, because I've ben checking since forever, I remember pieces released etc.

I hear that 100% too, but all that really says is LV ain't makin alot of clothes. That doesn't speak to the quality or styles at all. Itjust speaks to the rarity, and really I see it as more evidence that they are really only marginally a clothing company. IF only one store, the one in theforum, carries carries cothes out of SO many, it is clealry the flagship for that region right? Well if it only has limited styles/sizes wouldn't thatjust be MORE evidence that they barely make CLOTHES? I'll go head and said it the are marginally a clothing company, mnily accesories, and maybe THATS whypeople on NT sem to like them better

RFX I'm gonna quote you agan because I know you definetly pay attention, probably to the same degree i do so I feel cnofident putting my opinions next toyours
Quality = LV
i'd say debatable. I pay a great deal of attention to the varied STYLES gucci puts out and they do an amazing job creating complex garments (jackets/sportswear etc) which 9 outta 10 times LV doesn't even attempt to tackle. LV does great basic gaments, but just not to the degree which I feel the have such an advantage, again especially when comparing ALL the jackets LV makes a season to the details of lets say, a gucci puffer jacket or leather bomber jacket
Selection = Gucci
Agreed, not even comparably close
Clothes = I'll give it a tie but when it comes to good-looking to bad-looking ratio, LV wins
I can maybe ALMOST agree with the ratio argument, but is that a GOOD arguing point? LV will make like 3 jackets a season next to say 20 from Gucci, and usually atleast 8-10 of those coats are WAY hotter then all of the LVs with maybe one LV jacket being real dope able to compete wih the hottest LV one. Usually the best agruing point the LV has is that IT THE ONLY HOT LV PIECE so you want it Because it's LV. Also if its like that why do you own SO much more gucci clothes then LV?
Sneakers = Gucci
SUPER AGREED
Shoes = LV
Agreed
Luggage = LV with a very slight advantage as I have come to like plenty of Gucci messenger and backpacks
I think LV by a landslide. They just have more dope styles of branding they have applied to lugguage, from limited designer styles to just underappreciated styles like the geant.
Wallet = LV
I grudgingly say Gucci because I'm more partial to black wallets, but LV has some amaznig styles
Belts = Tie
Agreed, they both make GREAT styles for their individual styles
I'm really not tryin to single anyone out in this, I just REALLY don't understand how this can be true, when I watch bothlines constantlygoin to the stores ETC ETC, and can get basically anything with ease if I'm willnig to spend

^^ i'll respond to the ones we disagree with.

When it comes to quality, LV just has it to a tee. Their leather jackets are buttery soft and the details are impecable. However, with Gucci, you can see someloose stitching and mishaped materials. It's not just the clothes though, their shoes and luggages as well.

With clothes and the ratio, Gucci just has too much clothes released that doesn't appeal to me, like real short shorts and shirts and jackets that are abit too feminine. LV has some stuff liek that too but not as much. Like you said, they make 3 jackets season or a year and out of those 3 jackets, I will mostlikely wear all 3. While with Gucci, out of the 15-20 jackets they make, I'll probably only consider wearing one. I also believe that it goes with qualityas well, less clothes, the more focused they are at making it at a much greater quality. This is also synonimous with the high price and never going on sale,they do not have to compromise making it cheaper to cover the clothes that go on sale.

For Luggage, I just like how some of the Gucci stuff is more youthful while LV's is more classic design, so LV advantage but Gucci has some stuff Iwouldn't mind having over some LV stuff

For wallets, I liek Gucci but they aren't really too original with them. LV has the monogram, Damiers, utah, taiga and epi, which all has their owndistinctive looks and style that I would pretty much all use if given the chance.

Honestly, I don't even buy that. SHOW me what you are talking about, I'd be VERY inerested in seeing pictures of things which help you make this point. All you have to do is look 3 pages back and tell me the gucci stuff in that big post there doesn't make you cringe. It's all gaudy andtacky and screams attention !!%*%. I HATE people that buy "high end" stuff just for the branding and justify it as being hot. I'm much more happywith a hermes wallet or john lobb loafers no one well recognize than the monogram all over tacky look at me, i'm wearing a name brand! crap. And if youclaim to work in fashion and don't notice the difference between gucci then and gucci now, no pics i find you will help you. RFX is right in that guccisimply puts out so much that they can't miss all the time. Get drunk, close your eyes, and throw enough darts and sooner or later you'll hit abull's eye. The only place that the louder=better argument seems to work is in the hood. I never see it anywhere else.

I don't feel like writing up a whole big response to argue some of the things The Jersey Shirt said but just wanted to mention that LV is killing Gucciwith the denim. The LV denims I own are my favorite from the 40+ pairs of denim I have. Now, don't get me wrong, I like Gucci but IMO LV vs Gucci isn'teven a question.

The only place that the louder=better argument seems to work is in the hood. I never see it anywhere else.
QFT. I can't see myself wearing a piece with a Gucci monogram all over it. The few dress shirts and tops I have from Gucci have no indicationof Gucci other then the label on the inside.

Yeah I'm just not buyiong NOTHING you saying. You talking about an era of gucci that passed, and realy that only speaks of the fake stuff from i. Itsfunny you bring up tom ford because he went the craziest with the OVER the top branding stuff. Like 98'/99 the had mongram canvas rain coats, joggingsuits etc. You are attibuting allthat with "the hood" but really rapper are what reall brought gucci back 2-3 years ago, especially to people here,because 90% of the gucci in here is green/red stripe detailed stuff which the rappers jumped on IMMEDIATLY. Gucci has only released like 4 or so mongrammedclothes items in the last few years, and all with tonal prints anyays.

The only pictures you referenced are like 90% accessories, all clearly bought by homie to have the most showy gucci #*#! possible. Thats HARDLY representiveof the clothes gucci has put out lately. All dude got is two shirts, one being the most hideous polo gucci ever did, and the other being a fairly reasonablepiece. But honesly if thats what you are determining from its like you're just out of bounds from jump street. You clearly just talkin about straightaccesories

I'm sorry the whole "if you don't get it you dont know" #*#! anit gonna work on me because I have gucci #*#! from 99 and now and thereain't no difference. You really just proving my point and contradicting yourself. Cool you can name drop some plain old shoe brands that charge highprices, but that ain't SHOWING nothing. You talking aout such a DEEP familiarity then show something. If it was so STYLISH and QUALITY where its at, youshould stil have it. And beyond that without their branding LV and Gucci wouldnt be gettin no love. Even the people here speaking AGAINST the branding havecollections of gucci sneakers with it blaring out.

whatever though, I know your next move, typing and NOT A SINGLE picture to prove nothin... aight cool

With clothes and the ratio, Gucci just has too much clothes released that doesn't appeal to me, like real short shorts and shirts and jackets that are a bit too feminine. I dunno, I still dont agree. I think it also plays into the fact gucci makes like 3 more collections a year then LV. LV makes two pairs of swimtrunks a year and gucci makes a whole cruise collection with like 5 pairs of euro swim trunks. It wild you say you like the LV jackets more, then why you ownso many more gucci jawns? Cool you'd WEAR all three styles, #*#! I'll find a time to wear em if they just there, but why you BUYIN the guccis? I'm not gonna knock LVs quality, but again I just don't see whats so amazing about some SUPER DUPER DUPER plain jackets.

and RARE23 dudes frontin, it aint even worth addressin his opinion on that. Gucci ain't on no super crazy branding #*#! nowadays anyways. Dude wouldprobably pass a kidney stone tryin to convince you a 4 millimter green/red ribbon on the epulet of an all navy blue gucci military shirt washorrendously overbranded. Truth be told most green/red stripe gucci aint even OVERBRANDED, people are just now hypersensitive to it now because t wome of the most desired clothes from the last few years

Thats where quality and simplicty comes in.

As for Gucci jacket, i think you got me confused with MorningStar. I do not have that many Gucci clothes, I love how they fit and like how most look but Ihaven't really bought any big items.
But in comparison to clothes, to those who knows me, I prefer the simpler, classical business oriented clothes. Like suits, trousers, chino's, etc... LVoffers more of these. On my casual days, I'm more of a John Varvatos, Paul Smith, Marc Jacobs kind of guy. Of course, it is enhanced of highlighted byGucci, Prada, LV, etc... shoes and accessories. Now-a-days, you will probably see me more in some fitted chino, with a button-up with a rolled up sleevescomplimented by a slim tie and some nice leather boots. Kind of explains why I haven't posted here much with pick-ups.

I also do not have any LV clothes at all. Just shoes and belts. The plain jacket being plain is what makes it nice. The quality, the details and fit, all makesit a nice jacket. How it feels and such. For example, I've seen some Gucci leather jacket but the leather they used was just too stiff. There were alsosome suede ones that didn't have lining in the sleeves so it was itchy in the arms. In that season, 3-4 jackets were released by Gucci, and the two Idescribe will not be worn. That why I think the ration on LV clothes are much better.

gucci ftw

JJ stay schooling em-

really to me from a quality/prestige standpoint LV always been higher than gucci - gucci has alot more that i can walk into a store and cop to wear to theclub/show etc but at the end of the day when its a luggage item or a bag for moms/wifey then i'm in LV 9.5/10 times- your right the graphite line gavethem a big kick but to the newcomers dont expected 30 diff pairs of sneakers with it...

the main LV rush right now came from the entertainment scene...after everybody and there babymomma exhausted the gucci line they had to switch it up- now u seepix with like 4 rappers in the graphite crew beanie chucks and belt
laugh.gif
naturally the public followed- but gucci will always get more of the hoods $ b/c there is more appeal-

it was instilled in me from a youngin by my moms that Louis > Gucci - but theres a time and place for everything-

its all a matter of opinion, neither are better then the other unless you think it to be but in reality there is no better at all when it comes to style orlooks (quality is one can be better then the other as it is more apparent and not based on oppinion)

some people are going at it to hard tho, if you think gucci is better or lv is better just keep doing you no need to attack others opinions

Favorite Louis sneaks every made, damn I wish it were possible to by Gucci & LV sneaks from previous collections.
