Owner of resell company “West Coast Streetwear” mom is a VP at Nike - UPDATE - mom forced to step down

In my eyes the whole problem with sneaker "culture" and many other hobbies now being ruined at just a rapid pace, is todays need to "flex" what you have.

Back in my day that was called bragging / showing off and looked down on and often called out.

Nowadays people fawn over people spending 1k+ on pairs/ super pcs/ ridiculous cars whatever else the collecting trend is following.

Quite often its all on finance anyway at huge aprs.

I blame social media as per most things

Id be embarrassed telling people what ive paid for a few pairs in my collection. Would rather tell people ive bought reps than admit to spending £700+ on a used pair of shoes.

Edit - hmm now I see my forum picture next to this post and do see some irony. Maybe ive been sucked in and am part of the problem

Flauging, stunting, flexing, keeping up with the Jones’s, life has always been like that and it’s always been on display. Word to “The Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” TV show.

The flex was always there. Cant deny that and it’s not debatable. WHO you flexed to and how is the difference. People today think they’re on the worlds stage. With that the stakes are as high as possible. You gotta pretend to be rich and famous constantly while in reality you got a 310 credit score and a clunker of a car.

Back in the day at best you were out to impress people In your school or hood. That’s it. You went home and it was over. There’s no off switch today. The weak minded have plenty of reasons to feel like **** every minute of every day

Won't disagree with that. Social media has played a huge role in that mindset. Instant gratification. Sadly, it seems on young people the most.

But again, back in the day you had lay away options and other means to 'fake it, till you make it'. The concept of the 'flex' has always been there but the means and how wide you can reach has definitely changed.

We have instant gratification today but that comes with instant depreciation. THAT is what this modern world doesn’t understand. It’s all quick highs and lows. It’s in every facet of modern society

Flexing is something you do in high school and in your early 20s.

It's straight up sad to see dudes in their 30s and 40s be worried about such things. Your life should have more meaning by then.
Fun fact: This statement is a “flex”.

Dudes would probably sell their sisters box if they could lol
This is actually commonplace in alot of religions. My homeboy Eric started going to a Bible Study class and volunteering at events and all the sudden he had a bunch of dudes tryna introduce him to their daughters/sisters. :wow: they werent necessarily dimepieces in the secular sense (makeup, hair/nails done, gym body) but they were still about 6s-7s id say.

What Eric figured out is, as long as you have your own place/car by age 30 your viewed as being an eligible bachelor. And regardless of success theres not too many young males period involved in religion.

Yup. Think about all the little viral **** that’s happened. I can’t remember any of it.

But at age 30/40 isnt the flexing taken to a whole nother level?

$200k mortgages. Middle age people stay at Home Depot/Lowes constantly upgrading stuff. Lot of peer pressure simply being a homeowner - your neighbors will talk trash about you and try to outcast if you fail to mow your lawn every 2 weeks and water the plants and clean the gutters and power wash the driveways.

Lol, buying nice things isn’t flexing…what the hell y’all talkin bout?

Just bc somebody has something of value or a nice home…doesn’t mean they are looking for attention.

In my subdivision everyone pays this landscaping company to maintain the yards and you can be fined for running your sprinklers after 9pm or leaf blowing before 9am. There’s a lot of homeowner politics at play.
