Crazy talk. Spider-Man 2 is still the best Spidey movie out there.Amazing Spiderman >>> Spiderman 1-3
Crazy talk. Spider-Man 2 is still the best Spidey movie out there.
Give it time though, they may get it right and do one of the best ones down the line.
False.Spiderman Trilogy is a joke. Tobey is a terrible actor. Villains were good and Franco was good but the movies are aimed for kids. 1 & 2 were enjoyable but I don't plan on ever watching them again. 3 was disgusting.
Wow that daughter is a serious Allison Brie knockoff.Um...what?
That was nothing like I expected.I don't know what I just watched, but I'm there.
Back from The Place Beyond The Pines.
+++++ DON'T READ PAST THIS POINT. CP TYPE SPOILER ENGAGED +++++++
First off, the 2 hours and 40 minutes didn't feel anything like that... since this **** was pretty much three stories in one. Yeah, they all intertwined and you knew they were all connected as you were watching, but each story brought a fresh type of feel where the length didn't bother you.
And not that it would regardless, because this film was almost flawless (minus the few flaws that I'll get to).
Man, it's pretty ballsy to cut a massive paycheck to a guy like Ryan Gosling and kill him off 45 minutes into the movie. Not to mention, the females that attend or are dragged with SOLELY to see him are sitting there for the next two hours like ... He literally played somewhat of the same character as in Drive. Lots of vacant stares, staring through you, 5 seconds of camera time where's he's just... staring. The same question that popped into my head when I was watching Drive also posed itself here: How did this guy get like this? I mean, I guess he was pretty freaking unhappy with his life, just stumbling around without much work, without the girl and child he wanted to be with, but it seemed like he was like that even before he found out about the kid?
Not getting any Eva Mendes nudity. This **** is R-rated, how is that not in there!!!
A low-key brilliant part of this film was Mahershala Ali. Seems like a guy who could really blow up at some point if he finds the right opportunity. Problem is he's damn near 40 so his time might have already passed, but he seemed so comfortable in this role. When he was sitting with Gosling's son outside of the ice cream shop I was like, "FINALLY this dude gets a chance to flex his acting." And he was good, buuuuuuut.... the director really didn't give him much to work with. Scene lasted like 30 seconds and he had just a few lines. :\
Cooper was Cooper. Nothing extravagent, but I've noticed he's really good at acting when he's in therapy. In Silver Linings Playbook, and here. His best acting in this movie was when he was describing how he can't look at his son because of the visualization he gets of Gosling's son.
My Issues...
-Why does Gosling's voice crack EVERY time he yells in a bank? Dude can't yell at tellers without sounding like he's mid-puberty.
-Why did he run in the house? That was the dumbest move you could have made there.
-Too coincidental that the two would meet and become friends. Way too coincidental.
-If Cooper had that picture in his wallet the whole time, and the kid had haunted him for so many years, wouldn't he look into what high school he attends before switching his son?
-How did Cooper's son get a concussion.. and that's it? Didn't he shoot at his leg or something?
Ray Liotta is a ******g son of a *****. God damn I hate that dude purely based off some of the characters he has played.
My favorite scene by FAR was the motorcycle chase. That was BRILLIANT. The cops point of view with him on the radio... showing Gosling just weaving through the streets and then around gravestones in the cemetary, just stunning. Such a cool visual treat.
Definitely will purchase on Blu. Surprised by how many actors and actresses I recognized. Star-studded cast. Overall I'd give it a solid 8.5 out of 10.
Im a fan of M.Night.
But lately
His movies are like 45 minutes of foreplay with a dry 3 minute rushed hand job at the end.
I'm not past ep.5 of sopranos.
I still haven't gotten hooked to it.
*shrugs*
I can see the internal family beef is about to start, whether tony wants it or not.
