Epic.

Great way to end the trilogy.

Bane.

I was skeptical about him being a formidable foe for Batman given how great Joker was in TDK, but he was superb.

That first Batman/Bane confrontation was crazy. A straight up massacre. :x

Hathaway did her thing as Selina Kyle as well.

I liked how events in the first two films shaped the plot of the third one. Made them feel like one big continuing story instead of three separate movies. I would've been fine with Batman dying with the bomb, but when Alfred was talking about how he wished to randomly see Bruce in some restaurant while on vacation I figured they might go that route. Not gonna lie I was shook when it looked liked Batman really did die. I wonder how Gordon and co. explained his "death" to the rest of the world?

Another thing, how did Batman survive that blast? I know he put the plane on autopilot, but Bane said that the blast radius for the bomb was about 56 miles. So how did Batman manage to get the Bat safely away from Gotham so that the blast radius wouldn't affect the city while also making sure he was safely out the blast radius as well in that short amount of time? Batman is a G, but even this is a stretch even for him. No major gripe though.

yes him escaping a nuclear blast is out of place in this batman world. But im hoping someone has a good theory on it. I just can't figure out how its possible,

The way i rationalized Wayne in Alfred's restaurant was that Wayne had forgiven him, completed Alfred's dream. And now was going to get plastic surgery and fade into anonymity. He's just too famous to walk around with that face and not be seen in this day and age. I don't care if you go to the congo. someone will find him.

But that just brings up more questions.

how is Wayne gonna go on flat broke? im sure he wont let selina just rob people over and over.

why didn't they say Wayne's trades were fraud?

The Dark knight is the emperor strikes back in this trilogy. begins and rises were much more alike and less realistic and dreary. More straight comic books

I know Dante from clerks is out there somewhere saying that the Dark knight is the Empire Strikes Back of this series. It ends on such a down note!!!!



I personally thought the way Bane went out was good. All of that fighting means nothing when you bring a gun into the equation. Famous Evil people usually go out with a quick shot not going out like scarface. But I can see people being upset he went out by Hathaway hands. I got no issue with it.

you know it's amazing how no matter what movie i see, if you go to IMDB it's just a bunch of people talking about how much they hate it. And they were dissapointed, And it sucked and blah blah blah.

It's hard to get good discussion. makes you appreciate niketalk

The dark knight will be remembered for ledger's tragedy. And this will be remembered for the shootings. which is so

The blast radius was 6 miles, not 56 I believe. It might be farfetched but an advanced plane could get far enough away in time and eject Batman quickly enough to keep him safe with auto pilot engaged

I'm rewatching this just for Anne Hathaway.. I really loved her in this movie.

Amazing. I could maybe nitpick eventually, but I don't think I can find much to complain about.
Absolutely satisfying conclusion. I'll see it again next week.

That's my sentiments. I am going next week to the SF AMC IMAX for another satisfying experience.

Once the credits ran, I thought to myself, yep, I'm good, my heart is satisfied.

As for Colorado, I can't even say I'm shocked. It's a shame that the night had to be dampened by that...

I went at a 1:45 showing on Friday and it was almost 60% empty. Went early to get tickets and no one was in line, was odd as hell.

I'll chime in more later, but I didn't know so many people were in this film. Bane's voice bothered me for the most part but he was so intimidating and menacing that I can ignore it. And Jesus Christ Hathaway was sex for the eyes.

Who else all over the place when they saw Quinn from Dexter as the officer warning JGL not to cross the bridge? I can't believe that hasn't been mentioned in here yet!

This movie was a bit of perfection guys... the vibe and atmosphere in the theater after was spectacular. Even if they tried to rush it at the conclusion of the film, they still wrapped up everything that they needed to and you just needed to have your head on alert to catch everything and feel satisfied with how it was winding down. I thought the restaurant scene at the end was a PERFECT ending. It was just so . The looks they gave each other just were phenomenal. Felt like "Yep this is the end of god damn ******g good *** trilogy, and this is a damn good ending. Here's a wink and a nod. Credits." Awesome.

Michael Caine was tantalizing. People felt like he wasn't in it much, but him not being in it was part of the plot. He received his fair share of screen time from the beginning to middle, and absolutely KILLED IT. His speeches to Bale in the cave, house before he left, and at the gravestone when he was "dead" were tear jerkers. Such an impressive performance.

It definitely was Christian Bale's best performance in the series. We really delved into his character, lots of references back to Begins with his childhood and what not. He always seems to get lost somehow in these movies, and we sometimes forget he's a damn good actor. His scenes with Selina were awesome, and when he was getting his *** beat in the sewers you just really FELT for him

Hathaway was tremendous. Just her body language made the part for me. She wasn't as corny as I anticipated (even though there were still a few lines that made me roll my eyes, but whatever). Her back and forth with Bruce Wayne at the charity fundraiser was a thing of beauty. Miranda Tate was good, she fit in seamlessly. Marion > Anne That's all I have to say on THAT.

As many have already commented on, Bane's eyes made the role for me. Anybody else wondering why no one would just pop him in the head with bullet? Like, his dome is just EXPOSED. Sorry, why wouldn't that have worked? Too easy? Breaking Batman's back, breaking the dude's neck at the football game, among other things. Just awesome. I couldn't understand one ******g thing he said on the beginning airplane scene though.

One thing that bothered me: How did Gordon-Levitt know WHERE Commissioner Gordon was going to be in the sewer system? Why did he immediately go THERE? Why wouldn't he assume that Bane's guys had taken him hostage or something, how did he nail that? They didn't really explain that?

I have so much more to say.

EXCELLENT set up for the future of Batman. WB, do NOT @#$% this up. Nolan just silver plattered you a future Batman, you can not go wrong, use him, and move forward. I know it gets sticky without Bruce Wayne, but it could be done, if you want it to be so. F that Robin mess.

I thought the first 45 minutes or so was a bit quick, almost.......like he didn't let the scenes set, rushed almost, here's 12 seconds, now flash to another scene real quick, I was sort of "worried" about that, but of course, he started to sloooow it down, and when Bane met Batman, and he turned the @#$%^&* sound off, I almost lost a nut. Poetry.

The rope is correct, it was holding them back, so to speak.

Good call on whoever brought up Bane's eyes. They were outstanding. And I had no trouble with his voice at all, minus maybe a word here and there.

Superb casting/acting. Seeing Scarecrow again, the pics of Dent, the scene of the father, Liam, all of them, a complete perfect closure to a legendary trilogy. This trilogy is going to be examined for all time.

Seriously, I'm just flat typing. I can't even formulate my thoughts yet. I'm numb.

The tone of this series, my God. Avengers was fun, carefree, so much humor, the Batman trilogy........simply incredible. Brilliant. This **** is so good, I don't even want them to try Justice League anymore, what's the point?

Why can't Nolan just give me one of these every 3 years for the rest of my life? Why do I have 8 Harry Potters, and 22 Friday The 13ths, but I can't get anymore of this perfection? @#$% a watered down.

Alfred was amazing in this.

Modine was maybe the only character I didn't really like. He stunk.

Hathaway was so great as Selina and Catwoman. When the cops raided the hideout and she immediately switched into a hysterical and screaming innocent bystander. From the first scene with her pretending to be the maid, her ability to change and adapt was seemless and perfect.

I didn't like her screaming during the cop raid. Other than that and some of her early lines? Amazing. By the end of the film, she had me HOOKED.

Showed how she can adapt to any situation and she was smart. She obviously thought that through. That one scream told us a lot about her character.

Nolan gets all the credit in the works for doing this without ledger because you know damn well he had ome plans for him. He would fit in this movie for sure

I think another reason the sewer fight scene between Batman and Bane was hard to watch was because there was absolutely no music going on. You guys notice that? Usually there is some epic music during fight scenes, but during this all you could hear was water falling and Bane landing punches.

So, my thoughts on the film.

Okay, first, lets get this out of the way. Tom Hardy equaled, if not outright beat, Heath Ledger in the Best Villain category. Sorry, it's true. Not to take anything from Ledger, he was phenomenal, but Hardy became Bane as much, if not more than, Heath did Joker. Beyond that, Hardy was working with less; more than half his face was covered with a mask, leaving only his eyes and hauntingly Henry Kissinger-esque voice to define his anger, his fury. And god did he convey the emotion that was required. Before anyone says anything, they're two completely different kind of characters and I acknowledge that, which is also why I like Hardy more. Ledger was tasked an eccentric, mentally-sick madman. Hardy, an understated, maniacal, criminal mastermind (with a voice that lots of people couldn't understand I guess), that was Batman's match physically and mentally. The mastermind that matched Batman staying two steps ahead continuously, before ultimately breaking Batman in every way possible. "Only then, will you have my permission to die." Chilling :x Joker couldn't break Batman, he could only tire him. Tom Hardy, Bane, he broke Batman. This'll probably start an argument in here

The first fight between Bane and Bats was ah-may-zing. Simply incredible. From Bane starting it off with "Mr. Wayne..." to dropping Batman on his knee. Best fight scene outside The Raid this year. Simply brilliant, Mr. Nolan. The absence of music made it that much more intense and brutal.

Now, as for the rest of the movie, Nolan definitely accomplished what he set out to do, from my point of view. This was the darkest, more intense superhero movie I've ever seen. Throughout the film, the idea of 'hope' was crushed, over and over, but so long as Batman was still breathing, Gotham, and the audience as well, had hope. Even when it didn't seem like it, even when Bane broke Batman's back, we knew that Nolan and Bruce Wayne would win, somehow. Even when it meant that Batman had to give everything, including his life (until we later saw that Bruce had gotten the happy ending he deserved).

God, I dont know if I wanted the ending to have Batman sitting across from Alfred or not. The dark ending that we were expecting before the scene in Italy would have been satisfying beyond expected, the shock of seeing Batman sacrifice his life as he alluded to in that last talk with Catwoman would have been enough to secure this as my undoubtedly favorite film of the series. But, again, Nolan writing in the happy ending for Bruce, and seeing the little wrap-up with him and Alfred was touching. Speaking of, Michael Caine holy **** man dont hurt em with that acting man. Too good. That funeral scene had me wanting to tear up when he started talking to Bruce's parents' tombstones. 2nd best only to Hardy imo.

Anne Hathaway. I wasn't sold on her being a major player in the film, but damn did she impress. Nolan sure knows how to get the best out of his cast, and she didn't disappoint at all. Great job being the sarcastic master thief, with her ability to adapt to any situation as BigJ noted. Morgan Freeman still being the unsung hero of the films, though. He was great in his limited time.

And I still havent touched on Joseph Gordon-Levitt's job in this film. Also great, not the scene stealer we've grown to expect, but he was solid for damn sure. A few scenes he stood out and delivered the monologues like he actually grew up an orphan. Fantastic job. And the ending really does leave a lot to the imagination; will Nolan possibly start a Robin spin-off? Leave the door open for someone else to come in and start a Batman and Robin series/film? The possibilities Man, this is definitely among my favorite trilogies ever. Bravo, Mr. Nolan. Cant wait for his next project.


Oh, and as to why Bruce and Selina were able to disappear? Clean Slate.

It's not like people don't know who Bruce Wayne is, even overseas somewhere else, no? It's not like the memory-erasing thing in Men in Black

But I agree Nos, Hardy the task of great Nolan-Batman villains, and succeeded amazingly. The one word that kept coming to mind was menacing. Menacing and maniacal. But still organized and intelligent enough to be frightening. The Joker was just crazy enough that he was unpredictable, but he wasn't completely all there.

I'll put together my thoughts into one post later, but at first I didn't think I'd like TDKR more than The Avengers.

Two hours in, I was pretty sure that I liked TDKR better.

By the end, it's not even damn close, and I LOVED The Avengers.

I guess the information he got from Bane's doctor in the prison was the big difference. Maybe knowing Bane had a weakness made him feel like he had a chance. But bane was the better fighter all in all probably.

Did he do something specific with the mask I dont remember? i thought he was just hitting it and it was breaking. I guess maybe he was taking out tube by tube. They should have had a few more minutes spent with the Doc telling him about the mask. How he got the materials in that jail and stuff. Why he would tell Bruce the info. Just some more deatails.

Been thinking and talking about this movie for about10 hours now. And i've come to the conclusion that it could have been 30- 40 minutes longer which is amazing sonce the movie is so long already.

The Dark Knight = The Empire strikes back

This new movie was more epic than either one. Just such action on a grand scale. But unplanned, random, chaos is more interesting to me than a terrorist. TDK will always have a unique place in my heart.

The pacing is a bit better in Rises. But TDK is just so realistic and sets up a movie extremly well with the cover up. TDK is subtle like an oldd gangster movie. Rises is more of grand action movie.


I am going to watch TDK more times than rises and I imagine ill always like it better. But the fact that I can't fault someone for liking Rises better is staggering. That is an insane accomplishment!
