Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

It’s probably been discussed already, but I just found out they’re making a live-action How to Train Your Dragon. I’m so excited! I absolutely love that movie, and I really hope they do it justice. This is dope news for me—wow!
The trailer gave me goosebumps for sure

Not funny

Man, I think I don't know how to watch old movies.
Just finished Casablanca, my first watch.
I don't... I mean...
That was so... vanilla.
The only old movies I sing the praises of are It's A Wonderful Life and The Treasure of Sierra Madre; both EXCELLENT.
What was the hook in Casablanca?
Sam & Ilsa's past? That was hardly even fleshed out.
Something else?
Like I want to eventually get around to watching Gone With the Wind or The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, but I'm in no rush.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Let me guess, you thought Casablanca was “boring”

I don’t put a hell of a lot of trust in people who say they’re “bored” or something is “boring”

Let me guess, you thought Casablanca was “boring”
No need to guess; I very clearly stated what I thought, friend.
I said nothing about boring.
That's your interpretation, and I'm not responsible for your interpretation; you are.
I don’t put a hell of a lot of trust in people who say they’re “bored” or something is “boring”
The dynamic between someone being trustworthy and bored of things is an interesting dynamic, but since I said nothing about being bored and you're just infusing that into the conversation for your own purposes, that has nothing to do with my take on Casablanca, or your standards for trusting people.

I get it: you don't like me, but the feeling isn't mutual. I've never had a problem with you, but I lack the hubris it takes to 'not like' someone I only know online. If it brings you joy to have beef with people you only know online, though, do your thing, my friend.
But if you're going to respond to something I said, at least respond to what I said, not what you guessed. :)

I... see what ha' happened was...
😬
Nah I'm definitely going to knock it out as soon as it's on one of streamings.

I was referring to my other recs  I haven't seen The Substance...have an eerie feeling it's going to be just like 10 other horror movies I've seen before (as most current films are)

darthska darthska just gonna ignore my recs to watch The Substance

Great movie. But can we all agree that losing a parent (via death or otherwise) was a terrifying plot device that one too many animated films utilized during this period
Not just that period; an animated movie staple going back to Bambi. The most recent movie I can think of that used that plot device was The Good Dinosaur.

Has anyone watched Bodies?

Bodies had an intriguing start that immediately grabbed my attention, but unfortunately, it lost a lot of momentum as the story progressed. Just as it seemed to regain its footing, the series ended, leaving me feeling underwhelmed and disappointed.

There are several plot points that left me scratching my head. For one, how did the loop even begin? The entire premise depends on Elias going back to set everything in motion, but if it didn’t happen the first time, how could it have started in the first place? That kind of paradox is hard to overlook.

Then there’s Sarah’s trip back in time to find the record. If the timeline was actively changing in real-time as the story suggests, couldn’t she have pieced everything together from the clues she already had? Her return felt unnecessary and convoluted.

Finally, Maplewood’s return to the past made no sense given how the narrative resolved. If Elias and the older Sarah disappeared, with no one remembering the original events, how did Maplewood know Sarah at all? Her presence in the past felt like a glaring oversight in the story’s internal logic.

While I can usually forgive some narrative inconsistencies, these issues detracted heavily from the overall experience. The show had potential, but the lack of coherent explanations for its time-loop mechanics undermined its impact. If anyone has a better interpretation, I’d love to hear it because, as it stands, I’m left scratching my head.
