Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Another year, another NYFF review, which ended a couple weeks ago:

The Favourite: My second most anticipated film of the festival and it didn't disappoint. The constant cat-fighting over the Queen's affection btwn Emma Stone & Rachel Weisz's characters was comical and ruthless. Both will be mentioned come Oscar time. 7.2/8

High Life: A dense film with a laughable plot and a mind scratching non-linear story line that left me wishing I went to see "A Star is Born" at a nearby theater. Absolutely Dreadful. 1/8

Mid90s: I wrote about this pleasant film a couple pages back. The most enjoyable film I've seen at the festival. 7/8

The Ballad of Buster Scruggs: A 6 short story film centered around the Old West. The first two of the 6 are laugh out loud hilarious, especially the first short, while the rest are borderline boring and often dragged out. Quite a few ppl walked out by the end of the 5th story. Not the best work from the Coen Bros. 3.8/8

If Beale Street Could Talk: My most anticipated film of festival and the year. While it's not as gripping as Moonlight, which has climbed into my top 10 favorite film of all time, it's still a great film. The family/pregnancy reveal scene near the beginning of the film is jaw dropping. The film does get into a bit of a slow burn thereafter but doesn't lose it's hold of the audience. 7.3/8

Wifey & I watched Ray Donovan return with Season 6 last night. Very nicely paced episode & then when the credits rolled was pleased to see it was directed by Sopranos vet, Allen Coulter.

He must've brought in actor Lola Glaudini from Sopranos who was the FBI agent who turned Adriana into an informant.

I like the inclusion of Domenick Lombardozzi. He fits on the show nicely. Kept thinking why the eff is Ray wearing a Yankees cap & I'm glad Terry called him on it. Lulz at him quoting Keanu Reeves regarding grief, "Grief changes shape, but it never ends."

Someone needs to hold Bunchy underwater & just watch the light go out... :smh::lol:

Looking forward to see the final season...

Game Night 6.5/8

Randomly put this on last night and was pleasantly surprised. Gary (the neighbor cop) killed me every time he was on screen. "How is that profitable for Frito Lay?"

Fake Denzel too  .

Posting in the Netflix thread is one thing, but everyone here, knows a little more than a little bit about Film, Writing, Scores, flow, feel, sustainability when it comes to viewings etc....

The Haunting of Hill House: This is a Clinic

I can’t find anything bad through 6 episodes.
Of course, 4 more left so we push on but Damn, this is really so well done.

How could that possibly be profitable for Frito Lay?

Wanted to watch a horror last night for Halloween so I chose Scream. First time in a LONG time. Great movie. Has held up surprisingly well and hit me in the nostalgia feels, especially the ending with Moby.
