Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Phoenix didn't transcend the "typical" Oscar role?

Sorry can't agree with that, he definitely did in my eyes. The man spends half of his screen time alone, in a relationship with a women that isn't there, not very typical IMO.

I think he was better than everyone else besides maybe McConaughey

Phoenix isn't liked by the Academy. It's that simple. He burnt his bridges. It matters in Hollywood.

Phoenix frankly should have won for The Master, that's his best role to date. Her was amazing and probably will win Screenplay, but Phoenix has spoken out against the wrong people

Are HBO actors contractually obligated to appear in multiple series' on the network?

:lol I imagine you get used to the freedom that cable provides as an actor... or you're not as in-demand for a network gig so your only opportunities come from HBO dramas or other cable shows.

The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman was very interesting. Not sure what I thought about that movie but I did like the second half much more than the first half.

I liked it. Wasn't expecting homie from Harry Potter to be in it. I like how it had a surreal vibe with Shia talking to the ghosts and the ecstasy scene.

I was kind of confused, though, as to the point of the tape. Like, was that why the club owner was looking for shorts dude? Like, he was looking for him, but Shia never told him where dude was, but when they ran into each other it was all good like no big deal that he didn't know his whereabouts though it was worth threatening Shia and his crew for it.

:rollin :rollin David Koechner seems like the type of guy to do that in real life. Only he'd be drunk and doing it with you.

I actually agree with this. While there is some comedy in the film and his role, it's very a different route for him. Impressive.

i never noticed this about the movie Easy A

just saw runner runner. it was meh. i remember someone saying it was good. not a movie i would see again unless it came out on cable.

Is that that basura with Battfleck and Timberlake? If so I could've told you to reconsider.

Blue jasmine was awesome.

I'm gonna be annoyed if she doesn't win best actress because of the woody Allen crap being brought up 20 years later

Andrew dice clay was so perfectly cast. Say what you will but the man is one of the best writers ever.

^^^eh, I haven't seen Blue Jasmine, but his character aside, I've never been a Woody Allen fan. I generally find myself disappointed by his movies when I watch them. Personal preference, but I guess dialogue heavy, neuroses driven, (mostly) New York-centric movies aren't my thing.

The movie of his I probably like most is Match Point, which is very different from most of his other films.

Oh I can understand why someone wouldn't like woody films. But I'm from NYC and love dialogue heavy movies usually. And I'm pretty neurotic lol

This was in California mostly actually so you can give it a shot. It's not as dark as match point by any means. But it's pretty sad

Man say what you want about the Expendable movies.

It really is cool to see all the action stars in the same flick. Even if it is 20 years late. :lol

Off the top of my head I've only teared up during two movies. Forest Gump , when his mom tells him that she is passing away and the ending to Shawshank Redemption.

Well let's add another one to the list, Stand By Me. Man :{ :(

Damn and River Phoenix was so good for an actor of his age. His role was powerful and deep.
It made me wish I had a friend like that growing up. Damn.

Great movie. Trying to soak it all in right now.

Well yeah... It's a classic.

I was gonna ask how come there aren't as many classic non hood black movies like dead presidents and lean on me but apparently lean on me came out in 1989. Crazy. Love that movie. Always laugh when see chris from the sopranos. And that lets go get something to eat. And I'm the HNIC. So good.

I'm about 5-6 episodes into the second season of House of Cards. If it continues like this, it'll be the best season I've seen in years of any TV show. Still halfway to go but damn this season is perfection so far.

Also watched the new Thor. Thought it was better than the first but I still don't like either film.

saw dallas buyers club. what a great film. matt and leto killed it. fda is dirty :{

Watched "Rebel Without a Cause" a while ago and "East of Eden" last night. James Dean was not a good actor at all. He was just super handsome.
