Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

I just saw Prisoners.

Wow.

Man its tough not coming in here often, but every now and then when i click to come in and discuss a movie, i see someone say something in detail about a movie i havent seen yet and it just freaks me out from coming back. :\

I dont have the same time i used to for seeing movies at the same time as everyone else.
Usually takes me some time to catch up.

:rollin

damn sea, why you have to blow my cover like that? :lol

And call me weird but i actually liked spring breakers. hard to explain... but i feel like i saw more than what most people saw.
I guess i was able to read between the lines a little more and see the symbolism.

It wasnt just partying and drinking in my eyes, a lot of social commentary.
James Francos performance may seem stupid at the surface...but IMO it was actually pretty damn good.

Plus visually it was pretty damn stunning, the usage of lights was great.

Not saying it was an oscar contender by any means...but it wasnt horrible the way people make it out to seem. I think you just gotta make it all the way to the end and really think about everything all together... 8o

Two Things

Boy , has Jonah Hill came a long way. The fat kid from Superbad has grown into a reputable actor (through WOWS film) and he's only getting better.
and
Am I the only one who didn't care for Gravity? Maybe I need to watch it again but I didn't find Sandra Bullock to be that impressive neither the CGI :\

Watched American Hustle last night. :hat

Christian Bale man.......that guy is next level. He absolutely nailed this role.

Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence were equally dominant. Hell, Amy might have even been better than Bale, I don't know. But Lawrence, she really was a New Jersey housewife. :lol She was fantastic.

I liked Cooper, alot, really good, but he didn't match those 3, imo. And he was brilliant in Silver Linings, so I don't mean it as a knock on him. Just that he was Chris Bosh in this film compared to the LeBron and Wade performances.

Russell did wander a smidge, and threw a few extra pointless scenes in, sure, but overall the story was fine, but what makes the film was the acting performances. They THRIVED in those roles. Russell just was lucky to catch it all on film.

Liked the story, liked the way it was handled and revealed, very very good movie.

Sadly, I followed that up with Lone Survivor.

Walhberg, Ben Foster, Emile Hersh, and Riggins, absolutely great work from them. This must have been a very, very tough movie to film. They "honored" these men with the way they portrayed them. Gut wrenching story to tell, but they did justice to their stories.

Peter Berg.........the guy does Battleship, and then he does this. :lol :lol I actually like that about him. He can have fun, do "fun" movies, and then do serious movies as well. Same as an actor like DeNiro doing Goodfellas, and then doing Showtime. :lol Berg was awesome for this movie. I have NO idea how he filmed a couple of those scenes, but he did them splendidly. It had me on the edge of my seat the entire time and I was run thru just a ton of emotions.

People, see this film. No agenda, no preaching, just the story of 4 men's lives. Based off a book that I may look into reading, but not sure I could handle it honestly. Just watch the film tho.

:lol To me, he will always be Tim Riggins. The guy he played on Friday Night Lights.

Actual name is Taylor Kitsch.

Not the movie, the TV show. The show >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>the book or the movie.

if i watched from the start would i care about the characters more?

Damn, is it that good? I saw an episode with a buddy of mine and freaked when I saw Andrea :evil
It's hard for me to watch the movie because of all the feels it brings :lol

Jesus Christ.......Lone Survivor. :(

My girl is reading the book right now and said she's cried every time she's picked up the book.

Marcus Luttrell (Wahlberg's character) was on set with the film giving guidance, so I'm hoping that will be the saving point and make the film a true/great one.

Looking forward to catching it when she's finished with the book.

Yeah, I read an article with him and Walhberg in Entertainment, and he said the movie was easy for him, didn't bother him or anything, he lived the real life nightmare and still has that in his soul at all times, the movie was a piece of cake to him. :(

Berg did and excellent job making you feel this movie. It truly grips you. My wife and I were just :x the whole time.

I gotta see Lone Survivor

When I first joined the Marines, I was going through the pool phase of the Recon training program, and Marcus Luttrell showed up to the pool.  It was like time stopped, everybody stood and honored the man.  It was epic

that's awesome, the film is really great

I figured Lone Survivor would your typical flop. Gonna check it out eventually.

Haven't seen an Emile Hirsch movie in a while. I'd like to see him and Joaquin Phoenix in a movie together as brothers. I think there would be a good dynamic and chemistry between them.

Movie has stuck with me since last night. No joke. Don't even know these people and it just.....hurts. They won't win awards, or break records, but those actors and Peter Berg honored those men. :(

Happy new year ya'll!!! Hope everyone has a great 2014!

Big Trouble In Little China is on Encore man!!!! Jyeah!!!

Just finished Rush and Fruitvale myself.

That's 4 true stories in 2 nights. I need to watch GI Joe or something to clear these feels. :lol
