I did like how he waxed poetic about how great old ES was, new was bad and storyline wasn't enjoyable and linear but then referenced Wither 3.

For everything he loves (Pure open world, pure dynamic comms, pure role playing) Witcher doesn't give. But he enjoyed it and praised it... really weird shots he takes.

I did.

The narrator clearly did not enjoy Skyrim, seemed a bit hipster like point of views at various points. The overall tech advances are some of what was frowned upon.

He has great points about it being dumbed down (paraphrasing) for the masses. But I think that's a simplistic view of things. In the past Morrowind/Oblivion couldn't scale like Skyrim and any other future titles will. They had great points individually to them, but even still the advances from Morrowind to Oblivion were large and he openly talks about not enjoying quite a bit of it visually. Another example of this is when you hear him talk highly but briefly about Apocrypha. He enjoys that alien-like world Morrowind offers more so than others. Which, isn't entirely true but it's his opinion. Skyrim had a good base and did some very good things on the expansions as well. He was right about one of the expansions with the house build and children, I didn't care anything about that. Every other update was fantastic. Having another dragon borne was a very good storyline. The main storyline similarly was fun to go through along with a lot of the side quests.

He clearly didn't like how main stream it got, which to me is short sided. Any company worth their salt has a goal of making money, it's an extremely simple concept. The more popular the game, the more people it reaches, the more they can expand and grow. I can get romanticizing the games of old, but they are loved because of the lack of options. Was only a computer game, open world but had combat/interaction limitations, etc. He goes back to talk about the modifications of older games, once again he is romanticizing the games of old. Which I fully understand and can appreciate, but do it while also enjoying the current and future.

Yours?

I'm in the same boat as you. I started with Morrowind and honestly the way the games have grown I always enjoyed.
Skyrim has taken many hours out of my life, I even got the remaster on release date. I agree he has his biases and comes off as bitter at times. I have a lote/hate thing with the randomized quest idea, I do feel like it takes some soul out the game but I also had a lot of fun with the endless entertainment you can get out of it.
I don't like the way Todd Howard looks at games now necessarily, but am eager for ES6. I never played ESO, I heard mixed things on it from friends.

I am with you and think I have more of a problem.

I bought Skyrim on both Xboxs and Switch. I had to travel for work and had a lot of down time, so I had a completely different character make and build than I usually would on Xbox. Like you've I've put so much time into ES in general. I always enjoy the worlds and interactions.

He has some very good points, but ultimately I feel he is blinded by a lot. I see his point on making it a pure open world game where quest lines are found instead of the game starting and you are in a main storyline. But that's what drives the game, is the main storyline. It's not to say side quests aren't important because the same goal can be achieved. Stumble on storylines, that's how those great side quests are found. The main storyline only helps you get to the towns, it's your job to find (Pale Lady, Ancestor, Forbidden Legend, Wolf Queen, the Civil War (Empire!), Thieves Guild all come to mind) all of the side missions that interest you. And if they don't, don't do them. I'm not sure the shots he takes are justified but it is what it is. I appreciate his opinion and liked that video. Always love a good history of movie.

FO4 was flames to me idc what nobody says. I spent hours upon hours building settlements collecting all power armours. Story wasn't great but wasn't trash by no means. I was fully invested in it. As much as NV get praise it had major flaws. All that work to not be able to play it after you finish the story. No replayability. Then the last mission they basically give you all the best weapons you grinded for all game. Don't get me wrong game was flames but meh at the same time.

ESO I had funny with but never finished none of the games. Its not because they were bad I always got distracted doing some else in the game and that's good imo lol

Skyrim was my first ES game and it was dope. I never do the main question because choosing between racist and maga folks just don't work with me. I hope they burn in hell. I just wonder around doing all the other quest. I have it on PC now and boy... that thang is great. I actually go all the ES games. Target had the bundle on sale for like $30. Gave me all 5 ES games.

You guys think its worth upgrading from the One S to a One X or jump straight to the Series X?
I was thinking of just upgrading to a One X even though I don't do much gaming but I do prefer to have the 4K capabilities that the One X offers over the One S.
I been looking online but they're still going for over $300.
I'm hoping people start selling them for the low once the release for the Series X gets closer, if not I might as well pay the $500 for the Series X.

I personally would just spend the extra and go full next gen with the Series X

You guys copping the series x through GameStop or Microsoft? $200 trade in is nice, just hope I don’t have to give up my xbox next week and have nothing for a month and a half

Considering standalone 4k players/UHD Drives usually start at 200 I might hold onto my One X, on the fence.

Get rid of the one x and grave that series x man

I'm definitely getting the Series X no matter what, but just a little more incentivized to save the One X for another room or something. I feel more inclined to trade my PS4 Pro in since I barely use it but there are a couple games I want to finish out on it still.
