I did.
The narrator clearly did not enjoy Skyrim, seemed a bit hipster like point of views at various points. The overall tech advances are some of what was frowned upon.
He has great points about it being dumbed down (paraphrasing) for the masses. But I think that's a simplistic view of things. In the past Morrowind/Oblivion couldn't scale like Skyrim and any other future titles will. They had great points individually to them, but even still the advances from Morrowind to Oblivion were large and he openly talks about not enjoying quite a bit of it visually. Another example of this is when you hear him talk highly but briefly about Apocrypha. He enjoys that alien-like world Morrowind offers more so than others. Which, isn't entirely true but it's his opinion. Skyrim had a good base and did some very good things on the expansions as well. He was right about one of the expansions with the house build and children, I didn't care anything about that. Every other update was fantastic. Having another dragon borne was a very good storyline. The main storyline similarly was fun to go through along with a lot of the side quests.
He clearly didn't like how main stream it got, which to me is short sided. Any company worth their salt has a goal of making money, it's an extremely simple concept. The more popular the game, the more people it reaches, the more they can expand and grow. I can get romanticizing the games of old, but they are loved because of the lack of options. Was only a computer game, open world but had combat/interaction limitations, etc. He goes back to talk about the modifications of older games, once again he is romanticizing the games of old. Which I fully understand and can appreciate, but do it while also enjoying the current and future.
