***Official Tattoo Thread: Inked-4-Life Vol.2***

What's a good tip to give your artist? 15-20%? So I'm going for a 3 hour session at $200 an hour, I was thinking letting him keep the $100 deposit as tip

I LOL'd at this. The deposit sometimes just gets lost somewhere. Ex. "I need a $100 deposit to draw up your back piece". Then when you're done with your back piece. "Okay let's do $700" you give them your $700 while they are still expecting a tip (no romo)

So they would look at me stupid if i came in with $500 for a 3 hour session when I've already given $100? Lol well that sucks. Anyway assuming this is true, 15%?

I think $60-70 is fine. $100 seems like a lot but it's not odd to see people do that. I know celebs drop tips like no other.

My artist charges 125/hr and after each of my 3 hour sessions so far I've gone about 60 dollar tip. That's just over 15 percent and he has seemed pretty pleased with it, did an extra half hr or so last time and didn't charge me.

Artists tend to be that way. My first 5 hour session was really like 7 hours with all the outlining and prepping. None of that should be in the cost but tattoo artist will generally round down on the amount of hours spent tattooing you.

400

No words. Simply amazing.

Nikko is probably one of the best if not the best right now, and consistent.

What? Depost goes towards the final tattoo price, so say you leave a $100 deposit, the final session "costs" $400, but theres $100 credit, so its $300. Then you tip.

My $500 sessions (2 hours), I leave a $40 tip and my artist is fine with it and appreciative.

My artist turns down my tip, I had to make her take it. Granted I've spent well over a G with her in the past 6-8 months, its the thought that counts.

Officially getting my first tattoo tomorrow. It's going to be on my inner bicep and going to say "Knowledge is Power" :hat what should I expect? Any tips on the healing process? Will post pics after.

Also would a $20 tip be suffice? I was told it would cost $150 and take anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half. My deposit was $50 so I would have to pay 100 tomorrow and whatever I decide to tip

Nikko>Jun Cha. Nikko runs circles around Jun Cha's black and white and Nikko is mostly into color

lol I have a never ending supply of vicodin thanks to my prescription. Tats hurt but not that much. When I start getting the new formula (that is much harder to OD off) then I will be straight

. I have been thinking of getting a tat without taking vicodin though just for the experience.
Wow, dudes popping Vics to get tats now? Where they do that at?

Take it like a man, bro.

Also, please stop reading whatever medical journal or talking to your imaginary med student friends. There is no new Vicodin that is harder to OD from. People OD from Vicodin because their liver shuts down from the Tylenol, it has nothing to do with the hydrocodone. Do yourself a favor and stop popping Vics or one day your liver will tap out.

Anyways, this is Tim Hendricks, and this is one of the illest back pieces I have ever seen:

whats everyones thoughts on finger/hand tattoos?

if anyone has any, how long do they last? how often do you get touched up?

Love that backpiece that was posted on the other page. Would love to endure that kind of pain to do something like that.

I love Nikko and he's one of the best but I would never get anything like that on my body. This sounds dumb but his work is almost too good to be put on skin. It's literally like puttin gup a painting on your body. Kind of odd to me......but that is just me.

It does, no tattoo artist is infallible.. like I said my favorite tatto artist are guys from europe mainly italy and paris.. we tend to overrate alot of superstars like mr.cartoon etc.

Cartoon gets a bad rap when it wasn't his fault. He never *****d himself out there. The rappers came to him and then his name got out there from the publicity. Dude is still nice for what it is and from what I heard, he never totes himself as the greatest of all time. I do think his artwork is better then his tattooing. His airbrush skills are so sick. Kind of odd how it doesn't translate to skin sometimes. On the flipside, Jun Cha can't draw, paint worth a dime but his tattoos are insane. Go figure.

NYC tattoo convention is in May at the roseland ballroom some of yall should go to get some ideas of what you really want to do with your body

Nice. I like the font and placement. You picked a tender spot for your first.

I'll be there just to check stuff out, maybe get a few shirts but my artist (Rodrigo Melo) may have some of his canvases come through to show off his work.

Anyone coming from NT should maybe do a quick meet, scope everything together. Just a though. Fong, if only you were on the better coast...errr east coast.

Haha. That cold got me scurred though. I was actually supposed to move to NYC back like 5 years ago but things didn't pan out and I moved to SF instead. I just checked the listing on the tattooed artist that are going to be there and didn't know a lot. Jus Troy Denning and Henry Lewis. Looks like a cool event though. SF has there more lamer tattoo convention coming up as well. Heard mixed reviews about it but it's the same type of thing where it is 3 days long. Some guy from Sons Of Anarchy is going to be there too.

I heard the Bay Area convention is THE best tattoo convention though. Lucky you...I actually might go to school in Stockton in the summer for a year. Heard it isnt too far from SF at all.
