They had an open 5 season window to win a Super Bowl. 6 seasons if we’re counting this season. They made the Super Bowl twice, made the nfc title game 4 times, finished with the 1 seed twice and the 2 seed once during that stretch. A lot of success, but they didn’t get the ultimate job done while suffering some franchise altering losses in the process.

I don’t know if the window is closed completely. But they gotta retool on the fly. Nail this upcoming draft. Get an influx of young talent and most importantly play smarter. I don’t know if Brandon Staley brought that Chargers stench over here. But all 3 divisional losses this year. Those are the type of games the Chargers would lose regularly under his tenure as their coach. If they get back to being a top team next season. It’s likely going to be with some different pieces.

Need to address the defense man. When we had solid DCs like Saleh and Demeco. Defense was hummin and allowed Kyle to focus on the offense.

Need to let some folks go. Sorry Deebo…. That o-line needs some upgrades as well

People on the internet really crying for Brock to not get paid and to franchise tag him after next year. What?

This. Once we lost Demeco, it was downhill from there. You give us the defense from the Saleh days with last year's offense, we would have won it all for sure.

Not sure what Saleh's situation is in Green Bay. But if its a temp thing, I would maybe ask Saleh come back, especially because he left on good terms. Give him some more power to rebuild the defense the way he wants knowing that he can really focus on the front 7.

Offense won't need as much retool IMO. Rebuild the line. Deebo unfortunately needs to go. But keep Kittle and CMC (assuming healthy) and alternate his workload properly. WR; Aiyuk is your #1 with Jennings/Persall as your interchangeable #2. Go out and maybe sign a key free agent that can help play a critical #3 role.

Ultimately, Shannahan needs a true OC that aligns with him and someone to help him with the small details of game management.

I’ve been seeing that too. It’s a dumb take to me. My thing is I think they can lock Purdy up this offseason on a reasonable team friendly deal. He’s going to get paid don’t get me wrong. But I think they can make something happen. And there’s some circumstances which work to the teams advantage.

I do think there’s teams who are skeptical of him as a qb and who think he’s more of a system qb. I also don’t think he would get some record setting contract if he hit the open market right now. Also the fallout from the Dak Prescott contract and him underperforming after he got $60 million a year. I think there’s going to be a bit of hesitancy on some of these mega deals qb wise if it’s not a Mahomes, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson type megastar. Guys are going to get paid as they should. But I think they can potentially lock him up for less than what they thought it would take going into this season. Which would work in their favor if they have a bounce back year next season. Now if he absolutely balls out these final 5 games. That might change some of that up a bit lol.

Is this worse than 2020’s season?

I definitely think this is worse than 2020. That year we were excited to have Nick Bosa and a new QB in jimmy, but we didn’t know what kind of potential or ceiling this team had. Not too many SB expectations. This year’s team though, they’re full of veterans, all-pros and pro bowlers. Vegas had them as favorites in every game going into this season and as one of the superbowl favorites. Add to that the fact that it seems like a lot of those vets have mailed it in and said **** it, this season is hella disappointing compared to 2020

2020 felt more like a bump in the road. Plus all the Covid stuff, no fans in attendance, having to play home games in Arizona etc mixed in with all the injuries made it feel more like a lost season due to all types of outlandish circumstances and they would be back next year.

This feels more like the team is at a legit crossroads and that the window isn’t as open as it was following the 2020 season.

Do they realize tagging him means paying him like he’s Top 5? Goff is on the low end of that list and he gets $52M per year. That’s what Purdy would be getting if they got their way.

This is why I don’t buy all the stock from what Vegas says. Yes, we’re always gonna be hopeful for the best outcome. But the writing was on the wall before the draft that this year of mediocrity had more than a decent chance of playing itself out. I would caution everyone to not get too low on the losses this season. Save the despair for 2025 if Kyle doesn’t right the ship.

The NFL is a what have you done for me lately league. If they bounce back next season, narratives will change so fast. Once the season is over, it’s easier to analyze it from a more level headed perspective as opposed to the one the moment current frustration.

Look at last years Eagles. Everyone was on their nuts when they were 10-1 only for them to want everyone fired 5 weeks later and to see that even further magnified after a slow start this season. Only for everyone to be back on their nuts again after getting it together.

Horrible news hearing what Trent is going through.
Looking ahead to the off-season, there are some big decisions that are going to need to happen. A lot of pressure will be on Lynch to kill in free agency.
What I believe will happen:
Sorensen,Staley, Schneider fired
Deebo, juice, Campbell, huf, Floyd, Mooney, Hargrave, Elijah, Drake, Ambry, most of oline traded or released. I wouldn't be surprised if CMC retires. It's going to be a totally different team and I don't know when we will see them playing in a nfcc or superbowl again. Might be at least 2 years depending on how good their off-season signings are and draft goes.

Damn the team is really in a bad state. Honestly with the unfortunate child hardships, ward and Trent gotta take their time. That type of dealing requires some privacy and the org should really preface that. No one wouldn’t question the absence.

Gotta wrap this season up, play your rookies and get them some professional shine. Try to burst those teams on the bubble, and get them mentally prepared for the next.

FO got some homework to do, is bob open for some consulting? 😅
