***Official Political Discussion Thread***

Ehh the fact that she's even tied in a lot of them is lowkey scary to me :lol. That's been unthinkable for most of the duration of the cycle yet somehow this dude Drumpf keeps building momentum even without having anyone to face off against in the primaries anymore :lol :{

it really isn't.

Data suggest h2h polls pre convetion are basically meaningless.

the time for worrying is much later.

Hope you're right :lol, the way he's gotten this far isn't encouraging though. Even though most GOP leaders/donors may not support him,he's really energized the party base in comparison to the the at best, lukewarm reaction from the Dem base to the presumptive nominee's campaign as evidenced by the drops in voter turnout.

Donald trump is gonna win the general. He hasnt even really gone after shillary but trust me when I say this she is a corrupt politician and whats wrong with Washington and I cant wait for the documentary Clinton cash comes out it will truly bring light to all her bs.

Those national poll numbers with Drumpf closing in on Hillary H2H across the board should be somewhat worrying...

Drumpf would need to win all three of the major battleground states in order to clinch it: Florida (huge "criminal and rapist" Latino community), Pennsylvania (hasn't gone to a Republican since 1988), as well as Ohio. In other words, that ain't happening. Besides, they've been close twice before:

This is mainly because the Democrat primary still isn't over, although it very much looks like it. There is still some hostility towards Hillary among other Democrats which is bound to show in such polls. I wish it was Bernie instead of Hillary instead, but once the Democrat primary is over and, Bernie accepts the L and gives his full support to Hillary over Drumpf in the general election which he undoubtably will be doing, it's a wrap for Drumpf.

Belgium legislated a stock speculation tax (33% tax on profits from buying and trading stocks within 6 months of eachother) at the start of 2016 and the numbers are now out to reflect on that decision. I know Bernie wants to apply a Wallstreet speculation tax as well so this could be of interest to those here who support it.

Obviously we're just a tiny little country compared to the US but for the first 4 months, the Brussels stock exchange reported a 48% decrease in stock trading in the Bel Small index (Stocks with fair values ranging from 18.5 to 185 million).

The Bel-Mid index is pretty much unchanged because it's mostly institutional traders who don't have to pay the speculation tax.

In these 4 months, our general stock market tax produced 55% less revenue and the speculation tax did not generate enough revenue to compensate.

Combined, there is a total decrease of 29% in revenue gained from our stock market taxes.

Translating financial terms to English isn't really my field of expertise so I may've made a few errors here but I think you get the general idea.

Brazil's President Dilma Rousseff is to face trial after the Senate voted to impeach and suspend her.
Ms Rousseff is accused of illegally manipulating finances to hide a growing public deficit ahead of her re-election in 2014, which she denies.

Senators voted to suspend her by 55 votes to 22 after an all-night session that lasted more than 20 hours.

Vice-President Michel Temer will now assume the presidency while Ms Rousseff's trial takes place.

The trial may last up to 180 days, which would mean Ms Rousseff would be suspended during the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, which start on 5 August.

Ms Rousseff made a last-ditch appeal to the Supreme Court to stop proceedings, but the move was rejected. Her suspension brings an end to 13 years of the rule of her Workers' Party.

Ms Rousseff, 68, who was first sworn into office in January 2011 and started a second term in 2015, has called the steps to remove her a "coup".

In a speech at the end of the all-night Senate session, attorney general Jose Eduardo Cardozo said that the impeachment request did not have legal basis and that the opposition wanted to remove a democratically-elected president.

He said senators were condemning an "innocent woman" and that impeachment was a "historic injustice".

What a debacle. Even the senate is filled with people more corrupt than her.

Time for Bernie Sanders and Co. to pack it up and walk away gracefully now. "Had a spark when he started....."

Just a matter of time until Bernie Sanders and his supporters throw in the towel......can't wait!!

Keep waiting champ!

:lol

PELLEY: Do we have your word, in this interview, that you're not gonna drop out before the Democratic Convention?

SANDERS: Absolutely. We have made that commitment. I'm gonna be in it until the last vote is cast.

700

Not to worry champ. You'll definitely be one of the first I hit up once Bernie does what right and finally taps out. He can go to the Convention floor and cries all he wants as far as I'm concerned......at the end of the day he will NOT be the Democratic nominee for President. That's something he and his small and limited brigade of hopefuls are just going to have to deal with......and then fall in line shortly thereafter.

Props to Bernie.

Wish he could have been the democratic candidate. Respect how hard he's still fighting. Not a fan of the superdelegate process.

I'm not quite sure what your deal is, but you've been spewing this same 'fall in line' rhetoric in this thread for a while.

As it stands now, Bernie Sanders has not bowed out. He has every right to stay in and I respect him more for fighting to the bitter end than I would someone who gives up because the narrative says he has no chance.

Even if he doesn't have a chance, he owes it to his supporters to stick around.

It almost comes off as if you either have some issues with Bernie supporters, or you're desperately trying to get a rise out of people. Based on your posting history I'll guess the latter.

And people aren't going to 'fall in line.' People will make their own decision. This is not a concentration camp, it's a presidential election.

DK usually comes off as a pretty smart guy but he's in trolling mode in this particular thread.

On balance, Bernie's campaign and a campaign to the finish will be a net positive for the Democratic Party. There will be some Bernie supporters, especially younger voters, who will follow through on their Bernie or Bust promise. However, most of these newer voters, that the Sanders campaign has registered, will vote for Clinton at the top of the ticket and for other Democrats down the ballot.

On balance, Sanders' mobilization and registration efforts will mean more Democratic votes and those votes would probably not be needed to elect a democrat in the general but those votes could very well tip a number of down ballot races in favor of Democrats.

If Bernie wins California.... there will be blood.

You said the same nonsense when you implied that she would lose your "so called" home state of New York. Stick to shoes and American cars champ.

If bernie wins enough pledged delegates where da super delegates are da only thing saving Hillary then it will be a bloody convention cuz its essentially rigged for her from da start.

He's just in love with this hypothetical this could happen scenario stuff.

He's really in to that. Like now that the RNC looks like it won't have a contested convention dude is all in on what if Bernie gets closer stuff.

Do da math...

If bernie beats hillary in pledged delegates, there's gonna be a BIG PISSED off electorate that's gonna see da super delegates are shilling for Clinton...with over 1,000 delegates still available? Yeah Hillary effed up.

He's 300 behind in pledged delegates, unless he wins every state now at a 60%+ clip there's no way to make up that gap. So literally that hypothetical is impossible.

If you haven't noticed...thats exactly whats he's been doing :lol

Or are we gonna ignore that west Virginia shellacing? And Bernie lookin good in California.

I don't see why people want Bernie to drop out. The odds of him becoming the nominee are very slim but his campaign now is more about spreading the word and his ideas than winning in my opinion. Bernie staying in the race is a good thing. He may not win but he's continuing to spread a positive message that will hopefully resonate with voters for years to come. I'm sure he'll tell his voters to vote for Hillary in order to stop Trump when Hillary becomes the nominee.
