I edit my post, he is a white supremacist. I suspected him before. I changed the structure of the sentence and didn't edit it properly before I posted it.

Before I just blamed how poorly he read statistics. I can tell he has no idea what a regression is, dude reads summary statistics and thinks he is doing it. And he sounds like an *** on many topics not just race

The relationship between the financial services sector and politics is troubling no matter what you look like. The idea that President Obama's ties to Wall Street are innocuous because he is a black man is a one of the rare instances of "playing the race card."

Normally an accusation of playing the "race card" is false because the accuser is not seeking material gain and is setting a social and political issue in its proper context, which is the relentless white supremacy that pervades American society and politics. In the specific case of Obama and his speaking fees, pointing out his blackness is a non sequitur.

Now with that said, Barack Obama is about the last political figure to worry about when it comes to huge speaking fees from big business. Unlike Hillary Clinton and every Republican on the planet, Barack Obama is not seeking to become President so the revolving door, the quid pro quo is not something that could even happen.


More broadly, I do remind my progressive friends three things about Barack Obama. One is the obvious obstruction whose intensity was largely fueled by white supremacy. There is the other thing and that is the fact that Barack Obama did not campaign as a strong progressive, he campaigned as a left of center politician and during those brief windows where he had a Democratic Congress, he delivered good center left policy which was unambiguously to the left of Bill Clinton's "triangulation." The third thing to recon for is the fact that one of the many aspects of white privilege is that white guys can have far left politics and forceful language and not be seen as a traitor or a menace to their society. A black man or a white women cannot be, publicly at least, as outspoken as a Bernie Sanders.

So, whatever, Obama's speaking fees post presidency are a non issue. What we really need to care about are the speaking "fees" for politicians who are still in the game.

this is one reason why i detest the idiotic argument that electing a rich man (trump) to the presidency is a good idea because he won't need to profit off it.

becoming president is an automatic insurance policy that you and your offspring will be financially well off for the rest of your lives. it doesn't matter if you're Bernie Sanders or don trump.

this is ignoring the other major problem with the argument, where trump apologists claim that he already has enough money so he won't be greedy anymore. that's some first grader naivete right there.

one other comment on Obama speaking: he's one of the great orators of our time. even if he wasn't president his speeches would be worth a lot of money. granted, they wouldn't be worth $400k a pop, but I've seen fraudulent megachurch pastors and motivational speakers who can't hold a candle to Obama make millions by speaking.
