Now that they are openly doing the How-Tall-Is-Julius-Caesar salute, my comment about 2016 offering a glimpse into 1930s Germany seems less farfetched.

After reading the Blade Runner book(eletric sheeple boogaloo), I thought, I'd read some more Philip K. **** and bought The Man At The High Castle. I only got in a few chapters, but now I feel some urgency to pick it up again.

HR specialist is broad in the federal government. Most of them just comb through applications. Not equivalent to an HR director in the private sector.
To get to 140K in the federal government someone would have to have a lot of qualifications and/or experience

That is like GS-14 maybe GS-13 level pay

I doubt all they are doing is looking at applications at that level

I know your default is being a hater, but you are putting too much sauce on this

If someone is making 140K as a HR specialist in the US Government that probably means they have a ton of qualifications, expertise and experience.

It is probably someone that would get targeted by private firms to be high level managers and directors of their HR departments

Government workers are highly qualified workers that most of the time sacrifice pay for the job security and benefits.

I was considering taking a pay cut to work for the IRS because my job was running me down and the comparative benefits would be better with the government

Take away the benefits, then you cause a brain drain.

The private sector basically gets a 600 billion gift from the government because the IRS is severely understaffed and is losing people needed to do certain audits.

The GOP has no interest in shrinking the size of government functions. They want to weaken departments so they can make the case the function need to be handled by outside contractors that overall will cost taxpayers more.

Furthermore, the lack of growth in public sector jobs for decades has hurt minorities, especially black people, because generally you find less discrimination in public sector hiring than private. Losing well paying government jobs will disproportionately hurt minorities. Another reason it has been popular with the GOP on the local and state level.

If someone cares about working class people and upward mobility, Trump getting hostile with federal workers is something people should care about.
Been in the government since a freshman in college in 2009. Federal and contractor. From LEO agencies to laid back ones like Patent and Trade to OPM. To be honest a lot of them grew up in government like myself. We never really had any real challenges. On a career track of GS 7-12 as long as you’re doing what you’re supposed to you’re getting promoted.

But yea I agree if you have a contracting company that’s gold and gonna be even more golden with business minded Trump coming back basically wanting to convert everyone to contractors. They definitely wanna weaken government just to sell it to their business partners.

Man if you’ve been a good competent employee for a few years and your boss is retiring they’ll definitely look at you for a GS-13. Then in a few years you slide into a GS-14. I’m not knocking it cause it’s helped a bunch of my friends but they definitely didn’t really face much opposition.

One thing the federal government needs to eliminate is veterans preference. As a former HR specialist myself I see the damage that’s done.

I swear I will always rock with 703 hwy 703 hwy because dude got the dispostion of a Saint Lucian grandparent

They will completely **** on your career, but 100% supporter you in it

Like my dad work for the phone company and my great grandmother used to say "He just climbs poles and runs wires until 4 o'lock everyday"

One time the government wanted to cut the subsidy for the phone company layoff works and she was on the news screaminng "HOW THE BLOODCLAT HELL YOU EXPECT PEOPLE TO MAKING A LIVINNNNNN'.....insert random patios......you *****es"

If Democrats cannot create a platform and put forth candidates that can defeat Republicans over the next decade then that's on them. We just need to accept that the Democratic party and their platform just isn't popular and The American public likes what Republicans are offering better. It is sobering thought
I legit don’t know if democrats can operate under citizen United.

Honestly I think both the parties will split eventually . Republicans and MAGA. Democrats and Progressives. Because both parties have two masters the wealthy and the populist and attempts to combine the two leads to Bannon vs. Musk and Pelosi vs. AOC. There are obviously correlations but I think the feud between machine politics and populist politics is going to heat up soon.

that is flipside of this, at first I was mad about this because I do feel it’s aimed at a workforce made up of a large percentage of minorities, but those people are just going to take local and state government jobs in the states that can afford them. Unlike the MAGA fans rooting for this that work force is skilled, experienced, and there isn’t a glut of foreign or younger competition that can compete unlike the tech industry.

The real sick part is these government job provides services to a lot of people and it’s going to trickle down to people who need federal support getting ****. Even the project 2025 idea to replace them with MAGA is flawed because MAGA doesn’t know what it is doing. It’s going to lead to crap service and long delays.

I hereby order the heads of all executive departments and agencies to deliver emergency price relief, consistent with applicable law, to the American people and increase the prosperity of the American worker. This shall include pursuing appropriate actions to: lower the cost of housing and expand housing supply; eliminate unnecessary administrative expenses and rent-seeking practices that increase healthcare costs; eliminate counterproductive requirements that raise the costs of home appliances; create employment opportunities for American workers, including drawing discouraged workers into the labor force; and eliminate harmful, coercive “climate” policies that increase the costs of food and fuel. Within 30 days of the date of this memorandum, the Assistant to the President for Economic Policy shall report to me and every 30 days thereafter, on the status of the implementation of this memorandum.

I feel like this is going to be a one-size-fits-all text block for all future economy-driven EOs.

This makes no sense. I don't care about Democrats, if people are doing horrible things, saying horrible things, enacting horrible laws, then it's on you and me to do something. Unless you're on the side of the people doing those things.

We keep ignoring the obvious parallels :lol. It’s interesting to watch in real time.

It’s like, the media and us out of some fake sanity are underplaying the obvious. No matter how bad it gets. And the GOP/country speeding with no breakers down hill

Sounds vague enough to get grifted in. Lower and Expand housing supply? How? Your party actively supports NIMBY, **** the whole country supports NIMBY. How you gonna lowers appliances when there is a tariff? There is actually a lot of American workers, unemployment is low, except they are looking to cut federal workers?

None of this makes sense.

You simply can't have a democracy under Citizens United; the party(ies) that succeed under such a system are parties that ***** themselves out to moneyed interests, which will always be at odds with the concept of rule by the people. Under such a system, the best you can hope for is a benevolent dictator, which is what Trump already represents for his base.

For Democrats, it would be a dead end to work within the parameters of Citizens United, so the only way to be relevant again is to oppose it and to run on dismantling it. That's the only way they can recapture all those folks who will be cheated by Trump and the oligarchs.
