***Official Political Discussion Thread***

I just don't get people like her.

So not voting for Harris and letting a guy win who'll allow Israel to crank the genocide up to 10 is the answer? I guess when the Palestinians have been nearly wiped out and they don't have a homeland at all anymore, at least people like her can sleep well at night.

Maybe the dumbest thing about all that is thinking the VP has any real say on what happens in Gaza

No one really votes of foreign policy really

so as long as you aren't putting American troops on the ground you should really just do what you think is right thing for peace and security ect.

Joe Biden is an Israel supporter he thought what he was doing was the right thing to do.

If a left wing person becomes a democrat and they wanna turn off aid to Israel they should do that also.

Defending Ukraine is the right thing to do. However much people are annoyed by it,
I just don't think it matters that much to electoral outcomes.

As bad as things may get under the Orange man, one thing that is obvious is that this thread is far from the echo chamber that the trolls drop by and claim it is. Obviously a massive copout for them being able to engage in good faith discussions, but hilarious still given all the disagreement in here.
The outcome of November 5th helped.

During his campaign, the controversial politician and businessman made several promises, one of which involves the Chinese market, one of the largest in the world. Donald Trump stated that if he won, he would impose a 60% base tariff on imports from China.

As expected, this measure would immediately impact the price of various consumer products, including a wide range of electronics such as consoles. Experts painted a concerning scenario, claiming that the PS5 Pro could cost up to $1000 USD if Trump follows through on his promise.

Probably 80% of the poeple I work with are first or second generation immigrants, and almost everyone who I've talked to or heard talk about Trump was much like this. They've fallen for the talking points that all of the people coming now are criminals and lazy, and that they and their family and the people they know are all good people that probably won't be affected. And that they had to work their way to where they are and all of the immigrants these days get all of the government handouts (aka Haitians and others who got here on asylum laws).

While I in no way am happy about the results of this election, I am in no way surprised. Hopefully the mass-deportation is roughly effective as all of his other policy execution from the last term. Otherwise my employer is going to have to replace about 60% of their workforce and we'll be facing massive tariffs on literally everything we sell. Maybe I should start the job search.

The left wingers in here still don’t get it. Pointing to ******** arguments that Trump this and Trump that. Normal people don’t give a ishhh about that. They care about economy, safety and providing for their families. Demorats for ages say they are for blue collar and working people when in reality they haven’t done ishh for them. This red wave was a reminder to them, that you can talk a good game, but you need to show results. Say what you want about Trump, but he resonates with people and the issues. Is the guy perfect?? No no one is, but people wanted a big change of where the country was heading.

My newest fantastical hope is that next election there is a legitimate Democratic candidate that just says "**** it. We're going to do universal healthcare, $20 minimum wage (or universal basic income), forgive personal debt (not just college loans) up to whatever amount, and reparations.". Swing hard as ****. Won't happen, but maybe 47 goes hard enough in the paint that most people demand a huge change.

This is a pretty good read for anyone who's worried about a worst case scenario happening.

TLDR: Basically, it's going to be really hard for Trump to become a fascist dictator, and he really doesn't have enough time. It's worth pointing out on the judiciary side that, while about 25% of judges are Trump appointees, the other 75% are not. Not to mention the Trump picks didn't always do what he wanted.

Moral masturbating is all it is. Those people are entirely devoid of logic and rational thoughts.

A common argument is “[Democrats] didn’t earn our vote” but that’s where they end that point.
The question they should be asked is ‘how bad does the other candidate have to be for you to try and stop them?’

Amazing that they have the gall to to morally grandstand after subjecting everyone, particularly the Palestinians in Gaza, to the collective punishment of a second Trump term.
