the sky on the left is different color than the one on the right, it could also have to do with the lights on those buildings. i always do thesame thing. its hard to keep track, especially at night. there should be some kind of meter exposure lock on your camera to help you stay away from thatproblem.

i dont even remember the last assignment we had. did i miss something besides the first two? (panos and macros) let me know what everyone wants to do, im downfor anything.

We should do a bokeh assignment. I don't know how to make it more specific, just focus on capturing shots with great bokeh...




Maybe I'm biased since I can't stop playing with the new 'nifty-fifty'.

I am enjoying photography and my brother has been letting me use his D90. I plan on getting a Nikon also since we can interchange lenses. My question to youguys is which would be a better starter body? A D40,D50, or D60? I am choosing between these since there are a couple of body's on craigslist going for250-300 and thats sort of my budget since im just a beginner and in college. =\ Anyways any help and input would be great thanks!

I have taken many Pano shoots of the city and thats something that's almost unavoidable at night. On that section of the city thelights are crazy - everywhere and its so bright that it extend to the sky .. when you are doing the pano .. every time you get to that section you will noticethe sky change .. hell depending where you doing the pano from - you can get up to for different colors in the sky just because of the height of the BLDGs andthe lights on certain sections of the city ...

However, not to knock him down but I think the Pano if enlarge will be off and not sharp at all .. maybe the long exposure had some shake in itgiving the image blurry corners etc ...

At night long exposures are a witch and sometimes if not most of the times you have to take the same shoots a few times because even the slightestmove can throw the entire thing off ..

I got the 55-105mm VR this morning and so far so good (besides its a lil heavier than what I'm used to, but I'll get used to it).. I'll test it outsome more at the Met game tonight.. 18-55mm for sale! PM me..

D50, but that's just me. also all the lenses your lenses your brother has (assuming they're just AF's) will autofocus on the D50, butnot the D40 and D60

Ok Thanks. Is that the D50's only comparative advantage? As far as shooting go is the 60 or 40 any better? Im a bit new so its good to hear for experiencedpeople since my brother isnt around much(doesnt live with me).

Check this out.....taking photo stitching to a new level. This guy (Peter Funch) takes photos at one spot and composites them together as one. The catch?....hestitches them so they all have a common them of some sorts. Seems kind of difficult if you ask me just as far as taking photos where the lighting is right andwhere you can see some similar things....like a bunch of people walking dogs. Nonetheless.....really creative.....

actually, for those composites, the lighting hardly changes, so the only thing to watch out for is to look for people isolated (instead of walking in groups)so they can be blended in better with other people

i wonder how he set some of these up. i guess a few must have had the camera posted up by a lamp post or fire hydrant or in the shade right next to abuilding, but for some i know you can't just set up a tripod in the middle of a busy sidewalk. he had to have some kind of fairly tall rig that he put hiscamera on... maybe a hand truck with some boxes and and the camera hidden inside a box. or a big guitar case that can stand up with a hole cut out for thecamera. on top of that, he's definitely got some nice composition goin on, so i guess he probably used some kind of video out and a remote shuttertrigger.

pretty damn original... i gotta try this out

For the Toronto heads, Henry's is celebrating 2 new store openings with giving away free gift certificates at every store for the first 100 people thatwalk through the door. It said on the ad it was up to $500, but I'm not sure if they meant you can get a $500 certificate or they have $500 in totalmeaning they only have 100 $5 certificates. I'm thinking the latter though.
