I didn't think this was a good photo, but the effect was kind of cool. Just as I had the shutter open a car happen to pull over right in front and droppedoff a passenger.

(anyone know how to replicate this star light effect? It was kind of a fluke to be honest

First big flaw imo... like the d40 it only takes Af-S and Af-I lenses.. it being a bit bigger.. i thought it would have internal AF.. guess i was wrong.. seemslike it'll cost almost as much as the d90 too.. might as well just go with that..

Sample pics already show better high ISO performance than the D90. Slightly better, but for the price point, not bad at all.

haha, that's what happens when you have a fairly dumb naming system for your models (nothing against the cameras themselves but D40, D50, D60,D90...really? haha). At least Canon gave some space between 350D and 1000D, plus they use nicknames such as XTs and marks.

Mann.... I'm stuck...

T1i definitely has the upper hand in video, D5k in stills... mehhhhhhhhhhh

This is a photography post...thus...get a camera for it's photographic ability rather than video!

Sorry if this has been answered or is a stupid question, is the T1l a full frame camera? And any idea how much it will cost?

Honestly, heres my cool review:

D5000:
 • Weird looking body...
 • Stupid name...
 • No focus motor (not too big of a deal since new AF-S glass is shipping.
 • The LCD... I mean, its cool i guess, but the resolution is lower, and its also smaller than the T1i... but it tilts for videos...
 • Awesome low light performance
 • 4fps is decent
 • It comes with a hot shoe cover! and lenses come with Hoods! YEAH!
 • Auto exposure bracketing (D90 doesn't have it)
T1i:

 • Better video...
 • Better LCD, it doesn't do karate though.
 • Sloppy high ISO performance due to the all the magapixels shoved in that poor thing.
 • better looking
 • No hotshoe cover, nor LCD cover... insanity
 • Not too familiar with Canon lenses, prefer Nikkor glass...
I'm tired.

Santi, what it should come down to is which of the two you'll be using more often, photos or movies. Just remember that the quality of video is alsoaffected by the lenses you use.

^^ lacetrix - nice pic.. its a dif view of things.. nice and sharp

I have a d40.. i wanna upgrade at some point.. i've been thinking about the 90 but now the 5000 was thrown in the mix... idk what to do.. hmmm

@Kickmatic23
Get the d90 bro. You'll get great high iso performance, 720p movies and more importantly, the ability to use non af-s lenses.

EDIT

Now that I saw the price for the 5k on amazon I'm back in the boat

Any word on when it drops?

Thanks

Also you have to factor in the size of the camera as well. A lot of you guys coming off of D40s or XTis and such will find it a lot different having a D90.With mine, I never sling it on my side just cause I feel it is too big and clunky and I always carry a backpack. I personally like a bigger camera myself andcan't really go back to the small DSLRs. But just something for you guys to think about anyways. Not a real big issue in buying a camera but it does comeinto play.......
