$480 isn't a bad price for the whites but anyone would be heated at getting a pair like that. Seller did you dirty by not mentioning it. I'd personally dispute it.

If he's cool with the cut and the price he paid so be it. It's up to him if it bothers him too much. Not sure if that cut will get worse.

i wouldnt have a problem with the price i paid if they were pristine.
