Just had our baby shower this weekend. It was my side of the family and friends and man I'm glad we split it up. Our backyard was full and there's no way we could've had more people back there. Almost all my friends I invited showed up and the ones who couldn't still bought gifts. We were definitely blessed. So many diapers and wipes, feels better than having a lot of shoes haha. So much cleaning I had to do though. Baby shower #2 coming up next now.

We got laced with diapers too at the shower IIRC, it was like 700. We didn't have to buy any, and still haven't had to buy wipes, I just have been because I am experimenting different brands (right now I'm liking 7th generation, you can get them for dirt on Amazon right now). Baby is almost 5 months and we're just now having ot buy diapers, just because nobody bought us size 2s. There's still boxes of 3s on deck. Target has been to the best price on diapers usually, when they give those buy 2 boxes get $10 giftcard type specials. Anything under 15cents per, is a steal and if I see them that price I'll cop.

that was basically my motto in life. even when i met my wife, i told her i never wanted to get married and never wanted to have kids. mind you, i'm older than you and was living a care-free bachelor's life for a long time. the thing is, i met a woman who was smart, funny and had a great future ahead of her (with or without me). i also started started to dread the idea of growing old alone and eventually dying alone. i would wonder if there was more to life than just me indulging myself, buying shoes, clothes, eating out every meal, traveling on a whim etc. i'm not saying having a kid is for everyone because after raising my son and building a family, it really isn't. for me though, it's been a heck of a journey so far and it feels like a whole new life that i'm living. i'm glad that i waited so long and i'm also glad that i didn't wait too long. my life is the opposite of what it used to be. with a wife going into grad school and my son not only in preschool but now in extra classes for math and reading and swimming lessons, i'm busy and broke :lol and i wouldn't trade it for the world.

But speaking of freedom, we started to put the lil' mama in her crib to sleep and she wasn't feelin' it :o We're gonna let her stay longer and longer every night by herself until she gets used to it but I just like having her right next to our bed.

^Man, we're going to start crib training our daughter soon too.

Not prepared for the temptation of having her sleep next to us in bed.

My wife suggested making the crib as a co-sleeper...But I figured, since the crib will be in our room, we might as well just have her in the crib.

We did a bassinet in our room and once he outgrew it transitioned him to a crib in his room. Which is also like 20 feet from our room anyway

We had him nap in his crib early on so he'd be used to it and that seemed to work. Our take was they need their own "room" and space at times too since they're so dependent on us early in life.

Congrats to the new fathers that recently posted!

My first couple kids were a combo of crib n bed, that ultimately led to mostly our bed. Lol We've been trying to break that for a minute now. My daughter(son sometimes too) will come into our bed every night. Usually she's sly and we dont even wake up, so were still trying to figure out how to fix that one..

Funny, my 7 month old has been in the crib the entire time, and been awesome, and last night my lady put him in our bed for the first time and I think he only woke up once to eat.

Normally he's up multiple times, every night still.

I feel you guys on the sleep issues.  My wife was always of the opinion that it's easier to just go in and soothe the kids back to sleep than listen to them cry it out, but with my daughter we are paying for it big time.  She went from being a great sleeper, sleeping through the night from just a couple months old until she was hospitalized at 18 months.  Since then, for the past 4 months she wakes up multiple times a night crying.  Every once in a while she will sleep through the night to tease us, but the majority of the time she is up at least once.  It's turning us into zombies!

Man, my daughter is 10, and I still don't get sleep when I have her.

She always waking up in the middle of the night, or early in the morning.

Man my daughter is 10 and her chest area is already in full bloom. Almost shot myself when I saw that the other day. :{ :(

When she wakes in the night or super early and you know she needs to go back to sleep, will she lay down by herself and fall asleep or does she need you to lay with her, rub her back, etc?  My 4 y/o son wakes occasionally, but NEEDS one of us to lay with him or he won't fall back asleep.  I'm sure it's because we never forced him to fall asleep on his own, but sad to say it's probably too late to change at this point...

This is what I wanted to do...But my wife wants the crib in our room.

I even tried saying that it would be good space for her since she stays at home with our daughter...But she's just set that she wants the crib in our room.
