I am happy with this pick to be honest. The way the lottery and draft board worked out, the Knicks did what they had to do.

I agree. Both of their top choices were gone. Bayless is good but isn't a PG, and I believe DJ Augustin won't amount to more than a solid back-up PG.
Who knows? Maybe a trade will go down.

As mentioned before, I believe D'Antoni/Walsh is going after Steve Nash at the end of the '08-'09 season. D'Antoni and Nash mesh well, and it's obvious D'Antoni is trying to emulate his Phoenix teams of recent years. Nash has 3-4 more years of quality PG play left. If Gallinari is theoffensive talent that he's advertised as, then he might fit well in the "system".Originally Posted by abeautifulhaze

And what does this bum have to offer...seriously.....what can this soft 6'9", no defense playing, unathletic PF going to offer to this team? IS he going to score and rebound more than Zach? Is he a defensive stopper? Rebounding specialist? Great passer?....After Steph is off the books then what? What PG do we have to entice a DWade or LBJ? Thats the first thing they are going to look at...who can get them the ball and run the team efficiently so that they can do what they do?
Im disgusted.

His game looks absolutely nothing like Hedo's...Hedo is fast and athletic.

But this is what I said earlier on in the post
After watching that tape I have come to these conclusions about the Italian
He has very good fotwork
Needs to get stronger
Will get bodied on the block
He is not, and I repeat he does not look soft at all
Decent finisher and more athletic than thought
The defense in Italy is atrocious
Has a pretty good IQ
Will not be a great rebounder unless he gets stronger
Good jab step
Reads defenses well
Lacks explosiveness
On the next level he will be a solid player, probably average 15, 16, 17 points on a terrible team. The comparisons to Kukoc are pretty solid. Does this mean I want the Italian? Not if Westbrook, Bayless or Mayo are on the board. He is going to be a good player, but I don't see us taking him with the probability that Bayless will be on the board. First time watching him up there and I was pretty impressed, he won't be a stiff or a dud.
Has to use the up and under move in the post or turn around fadeaways because of his lack of strength
After thinking about it, he's going to be a good player and I like his skill set. But he isn't what we needed and I much rather have Bayless, but he won't be a bust and end up like Darko. In 3 years he'll be a solid player. Maybe he'll even stop Shaq. Who knows.
