OFFICIAL NEW YORK KNICKS OFFSEASON THREAD: TRAINING CAMP

LOL @ Knicks fan thinking this is going to be the same team. New coach, new GM, let them mold the team. Starbury will flourish under D'antoni (for the time being at the least). Give personel a few seasons before you start addressing the "team's needs".

Bayless is a completely arrogant fool who plays with nothing but flash, totally wrong fit for NYK. His head would've exploded out of thatNYK draft cap. You can never have too many bigs.

I am happy with this pick to be honest. The way the lottery and draft board worked out, the Knicks did what they had to do.

I agree. Both of their top choices were gone. Bayless is good but isn't a PG, and I believe DJ Augustin won't amount to more than a solid back-upPG.

Who knows? Maybe a trade will go down.

And what does this bum have to offer...seriously.....what can this soft 6'9", no defense playing, unathletic PF offer to this team? Is he going toscore and rebound more than Zach? Is he a defensive stopper? Rebounding specialist? Great passer?....After Steph is off the books then what? What PG do we haveto entice a DWade or LBJ? Thats the first thing they are going to look at...who can get them the ball and run the team efficiently so that they can do whatthey do....what purpose does this guy serve...what are we going to do with Chandler/Lee/Randolph?

Im disgusted...We just copped another Darko.

I'm still alive, I think Danillo will be a good player and he is talented, but he's not really what we need. D'antoni is the basketball version ofOmar Minaya, bringing in all his Italians. smh and I'm Italian as well. Danillo will be a solid player, but not for another few years.

I wish we hired Jerry Colangelo or Jerry West. We would have Mark Jackson as our coach and Jerryd Bayless as our point guard.

As mentioned before, I believe D'Antoni/Walsh is going after Steve Nash at the end of the '08-'09 season. D'Antoni and Nash mesh well, and it's obvious D'Antoni is trying to emulate his Phoenix teams of recent years. Nash has 3-4 more years of quality PG play left. If Gallinari is theoffensive talent that he's advertised as, then he might fit well in the "system".

Do I like the idea? No. But the only PG I was really sold on was Russell Westbrook, but he was gone by pick 4. The Knicks were in a "take the bestavailable" position, and they thought Gallinari was the guy. I'm not sold on Augustin. It's now a guard's game and someone of his physicalstature (or lack of) won't be successful.

Considering we never had a shot at Beasley, Rose, or Mayo, our biggest offseason change won't be in the draft. Hopefully ZBo or Curry won't be inorange and blue come October.

Give it a chance. It could turn out better than expected. Well, at this point most of you don't expect anything at all, but patience is going to benecessary. This is from the ground up all over again.

if he shoots as well as advertised i think the comparison fits.

Nash will be 35...he's going to turn into Gary Payton any day now....how much run and gun does he have left in his system?

Time to be realistic...we're not getting Bron either and this team is going to suck for many, many years.

.

I feel you man...Im just frustrated.

How can we leave a talented, tough nosed 7 footer on the board...PGs comparable to TJ Ford/Young Damon Stoudamire and OJ Mayo...to draft an unknown, unimpressive soft forward....just because he's Italian...Thats downright outrageous.

We already had a log jam at forward last year between Zach/David/Ronaldo/Chandler/Jeffries....what now?

Danillo is not soft, and I can't comment on his defense( if its anything like the rest of the Italian league its non-existent(what else is new toD'antoni and the Knicks))
But this is what I said earlier on in the post

After watching that tape I have come to these conclusions about the Italian

He has very good fotwork
Needs to get stronger
Will get bodied on the block
He is not, and I repeat he does not look soft at all
Decent finisher and more athletic than thought
The defense in Italy is atrocious
Has a pretty good IQ
Will not be a great rebounder unless he gets stronger
Good jab step
Reads defenses well
Lacks explosiveness

On the next level he will be a solid player, probably average 15, 16, 17 points on a terrible team. The comparisons to Kukoc are pretty solid. Does this mean Iwant the Italian? Not if Westbrook, Bayless or Mayo are on the board. He is going to be a good player, but I don't see us taking him with the probabilitythat Bayless will be on the board. First time watching him up there and I was pretty impressed, he won't be a stiff or a dud.
Has to use the up and under move in the post or turn around fadeaways because of his lack of strength

After thinking about it, he's going to be a good player and I like his skill set. But he isn't what we needed and I much rather have Bayless, but hewon't be a bust and end up like Darko. In 3 years he'll be a solid player. Maybe he'll even stop Shaq. Who knows.

HUH?!

You high?

I'm posting from my BlackBerry here at the Draft and I'm not even going to discuss the pick. I was lobbying for Augustin. Smh at the whole thing. Ihope it works out for his sake. However the more important news here is that there is serious rumors about David Lee being traded for Raymond Felton and twointernational players. SMFH if its true.
