For good reason, its where a player is the most defenseless.
So let them get free points? Just hand them a trophy I guess.
Alley oops arent really changing the impact of the game that much, its just one play after all. I'd rather them just let it fly than people start contesting alley opp receivers in the air and someone really gets hurt.
Does Haslem get an assist on that Melo lay-up? Grab the damn ball, man. Nobody was around him.
I hate that hes starting to do that stupid tip-out rebound that Chandler does.
It was terrible

lebrons has been getting beat off the dribble on defense since that fall. seems to keep favoring his knee.

this is kinda ridiculous bro. Why not just ban alley oops all together then? Thats more reasonable than making it illegal to contest them

Well we all know they arent going to do that, what we have now is the lesser of two evils. Player safety has to be a primary concern while staying within the rules of the game. You cant logically ban an alley opp its a legal pass, so you do what you can to make sure the receiver of said pass is in as little danger as possible.

The Knicks just made basketball look so simple on these past few possessions.

Unacceptable for a team with the Heat's experience to allow the roll man wide open lay-ups consecutively.

Right, but you want to ban the defenders right to go up for the ball? I dont want to see anybody get hurt either, but why even come out to play if theres certain plays that you're not even allowed to play defense on? If they throw oops every time down the floor, then what?

if alley oop fouling becomes a problem, to the point where the average fan is hearing about it (ala flopping) the league will step in and decide something. as of right now, there aint many players jumping over others to the point where a fall can be devastating. i dont care bout it, as long as its constantly called.
