Anyway, potentially good night for us here if we can snag this W against Denver, and Dallas can steal one against OKC. 3rd seed is in play.
Feel very confident if we get SAS in the 2nd round as opposed to GSW.

Chris Paul has been a top 5 player in the NBA this season and should garner a top 3 finish in MVP voting if we finish with the 3rd seed.

We'll see, but I'm not getting my hopes up. OKC has not been playing particularly well, but I'm expecting them to hold on to the 3 seed.

To be fair, I still think the 3rd seed is a semi long shot, but with us playing OKC 3 times in the next 27 games or so, and with them not playing so well, it's in play and it's obviously in our best interest.
And yeah, I didn't want to clog the NBA thread with CP talk but it's true. What is he, 21 & 11 on 45/40/88 splits or something like that since blake's been out? They were saying Blake isn't a top 10 player and if that's true, then the Clips at 36-19 with him missing the majority of the time makes CP a top 5 player and a top 3 MVP candidate.

Eh 45 3's is excessive, but that's not why we lost. Most of the 3's we shot weren't bad 3's by my diagnosis.
We lost this game in the 2nd half of the 2nd quarter in which PP was busy getting his *** busted by kenneth faried. He had 16 & 8 at the half and was a terror that whole time.
Will continue to say this. PP can't play. AT ALL. 5 minutes is too much for this guy. Outside of a hot 5 game stretch, Paul Pierce is shooting 28% from 3 this year. He can't hit anything, he can't defend, he can't board, he provides nothing and every minute he plays is a minute CJ / Jeff / Wes / Luc / Austin etc. aren't playing.
Doc has to make a decision here (he'll make the wrong one) as we get closer to playoff time because having Luc in the rotation is one thing, but having BOTH Luc and PP in the rotation screams diaster. ESPECIALLY when blake comes back, which will put PP in the 2nd unit and pair him with Crawford, who together have sported some of the worst defensive net rtgs in the entire league this season.
This game against Denver in the grand scope of things doesn't matter, but it kind of showed you just how toxic Paul Pierce is to this team's success. PP is embarrasing man.
Peep this, when Blake comes back PP will have to be moved to the 2nd unit, and that's a cluster **** because someone won't be able to play, which sucks. Austin / Jamal / Jeff / PP / Cole ? Are they really not going to play Wes? PP is just screwing **** man, what a terrible waste of the mid level exception he's been thus far.

I fully believe that Paul Pierce is holding this team back to a degree. He's been THAT awful.
Breh Faried Had 21 points and 11 rebounds, ALL of that came when PP was on the floor which means he put up 21 and 11 in 16 minutes

^^^ Pierce has generally been bad and Doc's insistence on playing him probably will hurt is in the playoffs, but I can't pin the loss last night on him. That was the first game since Blake's been out that the team looked like it showed up just expecting to win. Nobody was particularly sharp or focused. I'll give CP a pass because it was clear he was not right physically. And that was a pretty big deal and directly contributed to why we shot so many threes. With CP not able to get penetration like he usually does, threes were often the best shots we could get.
Green was OK considering he just got here and is still getting acclimated. And that charge they called him on the end was bull ****. You don't call that in that situation.
But everyone else, yeah, not very good.

I agree 100% with shoeking. We were tied 39-39 with 2:21left in the 2nd quarter, then this happened.

Fixed that for you. If we didn't already have Pierce, I bet Doc would make a run at Joe. But Doc is not going to bring in Johnson to play the exact role he had in mind for Pierce, which is actually what would make the most sense.

I disagree he cant play small ball 4. Doesnt shoot well enough or defend or rebound at an even close to adequate rate

its not about agreeing or disagreeing. thats part of PPs role on this team...the small ball 4 "role"
that doesnt mean he has to log heavy min in the rotation at that role, but that has been part of his role on this team. whats to agree or disagree about?
