OFFICIAL LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS 2024-2025 SEASON THREAD

The Clips with an Okay 1st quarter. You see what works against Houston. Defense is tough with Houston spreading us out. Blake Griffin showing what has to happen for LAC to be successful against Houston. Again, Blake is the 1 mismatch that really no team should have an answer for.

Really don't like the 2nd unit now. Austin and Jamal at the wings is not a good combo

The question when playing Houston, Can you keep up? They have attempted 19 3's already and it's not even midway through the 2nd yet. And these are really good shooters that are shooting away.

3 is worth more than 2 man Idk how we're going to win this game if they keep shooting (not even making, just shooting) at this ballistic rate from 3. Unless of course they go cold or something.

Also, lack of staggering CP/Blake killed us during the 2nd quarter.

P C H P C H see, this game is a perfect example of why I'm not as high on this team as you are. We have consistently failed in essential games. Doc thinks we can play fast against everyone and we can't.

And this is why I feel Doc is overrated. When we play teams with better records, we're always the team that needs to adjust. We don't force teams to adjust to what we do.

Down by 12 and have been outscored by 9 at the 3 point line. Could have been worse. First half of the 3rd will be crucial.

right on cue, Kawhi hits the game winner over PG :lol

to be honest I think the exact same thing on almost a yearly basis and mostly because of their age at the beginning of the seasons but they are almost always on top of the West come post season

Don't think Law was referring to their regular season prowess. They're going to win a lot of games. But their make up isn't necessarily ideal for the playoffs especially with no rim protection now that Duncan has retired.

Well, we were talking about whose going to get the first seed and that is pretty much regular season talk. I don't care if they're ideal for the playoffs, hell it's better for the Clips if they suck in the playoffs as long as they match-up with them in the post-season.

Another tidbit about that first half.

The Clips starters outscored their starters, 48-46

however our bench got outscored 24-11

Bench has just been awful lately. I would cut Jamal if it was up to me. Not that it's all his fault, but the bench is just composed better w/out Jamal.

Well damb

wow at that flagrant, looks like Blake elbow hit Capellas chest and then slid up and hit him in the neck

Doesn't even matter. They're doing exactly what they always do and we're not. Looking completely unprepared- again - against another team with a better record.

Please don't tell me coaching is not a factor.

You just can't keep up when you're giving up such a drastic disparity from the 3 point line.

Our 3 point defense has lowkey been dog**** for a while now. Seems like Doc's plan is to dare teams to shoot 3's. Probably the main GS beats the dog**** out of us every time we play.

Why do we switch so easily?

Ryan Anderson didn't even set a screen and Blake just switched onto Harden. This team is in shambles

this is why I don't think the Clips can get that 3-spot, just try and get to the 4/5 and hope the Spurs get the 1-seed

how can D'Antoni not get a tech? :lol 29pt lead and dude is gon' have a heart attack out there

Always wondered why this happens. In this situation, yeah I don't understand why we switch. Can understand with pindowns and **** like that.

But IMO

I just don't know why teams just don't concede two's against teams like the Rockets and the Warriors. Two's can't beat you, three's will. They really just run PnR and hit the shooter(s) from the guy who tags the roller. If Capela is rolling there is no reason to leave a shooter to tag on capela. Let him score the two. If harden or gordon (or anyone from gsw) beats you off the bounce, let them finish at the rim, no need to give any help. That's where i'm at with it. The rockets as I write this are up to 42 3's attempted. The chances of beating Hou or GSW when you're allowing really good shooters to take 42 3's are extremely low.

^^^ And that's my point ... we never take away what a good team wants to do. We react, try to beat them at their own game, and fail. I don't even know what kind of team we are.
We beat most teams off superior talent, but we don't actually have a system.

No system, no order of operation, that's completely docs fault

Facts are, this team is no closer to a championship than when del negro coached them

Also, the team said post-game last night they didn't match the Rockets' energy/effort. That like the 3rd or 4th time I can recall them saying that after a loss in an important game. Why does that keep happening? If it's true, it's pretty inexcusable, particularly in a home game after two full days off.

Yeah that Sounds like a cop out to me.

Would have to really re-watch the game again though to see if the 'energy' or 'effort' thing has any merit.

Just looks like to me that as a team, whether it's because of coaching / schematic error or their own doing, has no real idea how to defend the three point line.

You saw it against Boston a couple weeks back, the 4x against GSW, the two games against houston this year, I mean we just have been getting really spread out. Allowing dribble penetration leading to help which leads to open shooters, we've got people tagging rollers two steps too many when those guys are guarding shooters, just a mess on that end of the floor right now against teams that are offensively potent.

^^^ Yeah, I maybe noticed a couple winnable ballls they beat us to last night, but I wasn't watching the game thinking "we're losing because they're just playing harder." Like you said, it was the absence of a good defensive plan and poor defensive execution.
