Here's some closer pics. It is obvious it is painted when you look at it up close, but from far away, it just looks like a really white tongue. I ended up putting about 5 coats because one of my tongues started looking more yellow than the other so I got OCD and just made them both really white. The coats were thin though and they should drip when you brush them on, otherwise it will be too thick. If I were to do it again, I would be more careful with matching both tongues and probably use 1-2 less coats. You can use as little as you want if you want some yellow in it still.

Fit wise, they fit normal. Tongues are stiffer on the outside and feel more "plastic" but they don't look bad in my opinion. From birds eye view or on foot, I can't tell it's painted. Kept the back mesh of my tongues unpainted and yellow so I don't feel any of the hardness. I would imagine that the only side effect would be that the tongue creases more because of the paint, but I'm mainly concerned about the top of the tongue since that shows the most. This was my first paint job so could've been cleaner in some areas, but it pretty much takes no skill. Just start with a very thin layer of paint and you can stop at anytime.

Hopefully you mixed in some GAC 900 Fabric Medium else your tongue is going to have some cracking as time passes on. It probably would've been easier to remove the yellow foam and replace with white foam and do a clean restitch. That's just me though. Haven't seen anyone do this but looks like you're the first.

Thanks for your input.  We'll see how it holds up. The yellow just really bothered me. If someone else has a better way, please put up a tutorial. I'm sure the yellow tongue is a deal breaker for some, but overall it's a great shoe.

No prob. This is the process if you were ever curious

received mine today,  I am happy with them.  not a chi 1, but quality is pretty good, the midsole doesnt look so nice, but feels nice haha.

black scuff on the back...ill have to try to wipe that off

Only thing that I don't like is the yellow foam that's coming out of the lace hole.
But I would just lace over it.
Have them waiting for me at home, so haven't seen them irl.

I like them because Mike wore them. I like the story behind it.
If I would've been able to cop the 1's I would have skipped these.

The yellow tongue surprisingly has never bothered me about these..it's just the bootish shape of the sneaker that's odd...and looks very different from the original pair MJ had (shape, swoosh size, stitching is all wrong from the OG 1.5 model.) I might buy for the low, for fall/winter & bad weather days

I believe the full length AJ2 sole air unit is the reason why the front red on the sneaker looks..kinda like one of those balloons used to create balloon animals. These are more comfy..but The OG 1.5 had the old AJ2 Air unit that didn't have a full length air unit that reached up to the toebox..thus the toe box stayed flatter and looked less full.

Finally broke out my Shattered Backboards last night after wearing my 1.5's for a few weeks now. The SBBs were my first 1's so had never experienced walking around in the originals. Gotta say, I much prefer the wear of the 1.5's. Amazing how much lighter and nicer they feel on the feet. Still prefer the look of 1 over 1.5, but the comfort is definitely worth the small tradeoff in looks.

saw a pair in footlocker

unfortunately not in my size 9

these are mad light compared to the usual jordan 1s

These are still in the shoe stores here. I kinda figured these wouldn't do too good here.

these things are hideous man. i could never come thru rocking these boots. even if i missed out on chi 1s, i'da NEVER grabbed these. u would have to pay me. and even then, i'd have to give it some srs thought. i just can't. :x

nice comparison vid tho!

Who's comparison vid?

Got my pair in today, i do like the shoe but the execution is really cheap.

Only the red parts are real leather, the black and white parts are syntethic, the toebox will crease in a strange way, like the aj1 low bred.

At least they are really comfy.

I've worn mine for a total of two days and they've barely creased. No where close to my other aj1s. They almost look like I just took them out the box

no offense but the shoe has been out for awhile now what's the point of still coming in the thread to post how hideous they are? The appearance critiquing period has gone and past. The dead horse has been beaten. If you notice the last few pages are of people who bought them and are enjoying them
