Because the album doesn't really have staying power. Most songs only have 1 or 2 rap verses (I think there's one song on the entire album with 3 verses) and a lot of it is Jay letting the beat or featured singer take the reigns on the song. How are reviews getting worse?
Upon its release Magna Carta... Holy Grail received mixed reviews from music critics, who were divided in their opinion about the album: some praised it for its lyricism and production, while others criticized Jay-Z for lack of presence. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from critics, the album received an average score of 57, based on 35 reviews, which indicates "mixed or average reviews".
Kanye didn't black out on Diamonds?
Only time Kanye blacks out is when he turns off the light at night to go to sleep bruh.
Kanye doesn't have that type of lyrical ability. To this day Kanye beats > Kanye lyrics.
Kanye didn't black out on Diamonds?
...and Go Hard? Kanye destroyed 'Go Hard' ...
This is the EXACT same comment I made about My Dark Twisted Fantasy, and Kanye stans blasted me for it. I am not saying YOU, I just think its funny that when the shoe is on the other foot, people have problems with it.Because the album doesn't really have staying power. Overall it's kind of boring and doesn't have that much replay value. It's almost like a "sixteen" song mixtape with how uncohesive it is...
So critics who didn't rush to review it right away and weren't prisoner to their initial opinions had time to digest what they listened to and play it for 10 days. And a lot of them are deciding it's not that great...
Jay mailed it in.
But what does that have to do with bloggers and reviewers not liking Magna Carta? krazyrodzilla was pointing at metacritic, not nt.This is the EXACT same comment I made about My Dark Twisted Fantasy, and Kanye stans blasted me for it. I'll be damned if "La Familia" isn't one of the catchiest Jay songs I've ever heard...
Head of the fam a LY...
Oh don't make me laaauuuggghhhhh...
What Jay did on this album seems like typical letting the beat run time frames that happen on most albums. What KanYe does is basically robbery. He has songs where it runs for minutes at a time(Runaway :x), if you take away all the beat running on Yeezus it's probably 34 minutes long.
Yea that was right after his moms diedI was gonna say that too. Wasn't that around the time his mom died? He was ruthless around that period...
Sorry dude. Jumped into the middle of the conversation. I didnt mean think reviews were strictly referring to published reviews. Thought you or I's review of the album were wrapped into the reviews category as well. But what does that have to do with bloggers and reviewers not liking Magna Carta? krazyrodzilla was pointing at metacritic, not nt.This is the EXACT same comment I made about My Dark Twisted Fantasy, and Kanye stans blasted me for it. and naw, i wasn't one of those people who was in the mbdtf thread.
G.O.A.T. song, tbh. What Jay did on this album seems like typical letting the beat run time frames that happen on most albums. What KanYe does is basically robbery. me too man..Its honestly gotten better to me as I listen to it more and more. When it comes to Jay-Z albums, I cant really form a solid opinion of it until I learn all the words to all of the songs which happens since I listen to them so much. That allows me to start breaking down bars and seeing how they fit the song overall, and just lets me get more into it in terms of my overall listening experience. I have not listented to any other music since it came out, and I've listened to it in its entirety about 30 times, with some songs getting more plays than that. I really like this album.

Ya'll don't understand WE.
GOOD LUCK WITH THAT BRUH.
Oh don't make me laaauuuggghhhhh...
So you saying "Sunshine" and "Ain't No", is better then "La Familia"??Huge Jay fan but I'll be damned if this is one of the worst Jay songs I have ever heard.
So you saying "Sunshine" and "Ain't No", is better then "La Familia"??
Also that horrible "I Know" off of Vol.1 is better???
Jay has made some garbage tracks but this ain't one of them..
Once again the elitist mentality of rap knowledge rears its ugly head... Jayz has been about money, cash, pros since day one... Every now and then he will hit you with some positive, lyriscm, saying something real.. I don't see your pointFor one Aint No isn't a bad song. Not in the upper echelon of Jay tracks but far from a bad song. Sunshine and I Know What Girls Like are equally as bad as La Familia. Its pointless comparing which tracks are better....they all are not good.
There is nothing good about La Famillia from a production or lyrical standpoint. However, I guess if you dig simplistic lyrics with little to know substance then you will find La Familla hot.

I am a jay fan( not a Stan) but clearly people in this new realm of online forum music makes them feel they have some kind of superior rap palette...
Man this is just music to enjoy and listen to, nothing more, nothing less... To honestly even try to write a deep comeback to three horrible songs( somebody in here even defended Me and My girlfriend is better then BBC) just makes me question What You Cats Really Want... To call it mindless gibberish is cool if its to make you feel that you are in the upper echelon(as you used) as a music listener but its preposterous and almost hipster like... My musical tast expand from afrika bambaataa to OF, I am just a fan of hip hop and good, bad and ugly music... But I will let you have this argument since my ears and musical taste are lacking to all you super rap aficionados
