i understand saul's position in not wanting to be a bargaining chip, but how is killing him just to kill the terrorists the answer?
saul is a fmr cia director, and at the very least an american citizen.
to justify his death to kill haqqani is bs to me.
if they can just bomb at will, why not just blow up the entire city?

This NY Times piece gives some insight into Patinkin's past.
It's funny, the interviews I've seen him are the polar opposite of his rep. He comes across warm & personable.
He is a very good actor though. I can see him being uber intense on set.

I can see the angle of him taking his role/job too seriously and being a bit of an a-hole to ppl similar to Christian Bale though.

Just finished ep. Great ep! Outside of the awkward child molestation storyline, the season has been really good.
They just need to stick with the espionage aspect and dump all that crazy Carrie BS and the show will be fine...

It's like this season is Nazir in America all over again
Really liked how they hooked me back in to things even though it was so wild. Saul sitting on the runway, hell Saul this whole ep, the Ambassador being in on the con, Carrie whole time trying to think of the original bigger plan, etc.
Only thing I didn't like was how the ambassador's husband was dealt with during interrogation. I was ready to see him tortured and even though I knew they're all playing him to get all the info before punishing him I wanted to see him hurt or at least sweat out the situation a whole lot more. Whole time when dude brought him in for that fake convo about Sandy I was waiting for a bunch of dudes in black to just abduct him Safe House style 
That ending though 
Feels like every other ep I'm asking why? Like it's just time to declare war on Pakistan. I know it helps for suspense and the climax but the CIA is out here looking a bit too incompetent.

I just find it mad brazen how blatant it is that Pakistan's ISI and whoever else clearly are involved in this and yet it's not getting back to the president in full detail.
At this point, to them, I don't think Carrie or Saul is needed other than to maybe behead them live on the internet but Lockhart's around for that.

I don't think so. Seems the plan was to attack Saul's detail upon return so that all of the marines would leave the embassy so that Haqqani would come through with his goons in their secret tunnel and lay waste to everybody in there.

yea I stay noticing Showtime most of the time clocking homeland at that 45 min range. Like damn, you're a premium cable channel, so act like one you don't have commercials. I mean what it takes 4 min from the preview of the upcoming episode (still don't get why they do this) to last weeks recap then to the opening title sequence then it starts. So 41 min of show. And I don't want to watch that unused 15 minutes go to waste with showtime hawking their other series :x
