Rickon is the most useless character ever.
Technically so is Sansa :lol She's basically a hostage/tool/bait/bargaining chip. That's all she's used for. Somebody has to be main Stark dude that endures all these tragedies to his family and rises up to avenge them all, why not the apparently useless Rickon?

Assuming Martin ever writes them when they're a bit older, I assume someone has to be the new lord of Winterfell. I don't think it'll be Bran or Jon... or Robb and although it'd be cool for Aarya to be Lady of Winterfell or Queen if the North never reunites I think her story will be different.

just cause shes a bargaining chip doesnt make her useless. I'd say its quite the opposite. At this point, Sansa is an integral piece that will affect the future of Westeros. Wtih most of the major houses vying for her (including Littlefinger/Harrenhal), she could play a big part in how this story pans out.

wonder what the hound has planned for arya. i mean he was leaving kingslanding and offered to help sansa out too. maybe arya finds him to be helpful.

^
Yeah, with Arya missing she's even more important. Plus the fact that people think Bran and Rickon are dead.

does that face changer guy arya helped out also say the only god is the god of death?

Don't think Jaqen said that, but the dance instructor that trained Arya was the one that thought her that. Also I don't think they refer to it as a or the god of death, just simply death. More so death in itself, not as in its a god to worship or anything.

Nothing that really has to do with what she does but what she represents. Like I said at best she's a bargaining chip other than that useless.

Rickon would be the same thing if the Greyjoys still had him or any other house in the North or the wildlings.

The Stranger is the god of death in the new religion (referred to as the New Gods or the seven) of Westeros.

He can be worshiped but it's frowned upon.

I'm not referring to the new god though.
The way it was said it didn't sound like he was talking about a specific god of all the new gods(or old), it was that there wasn't a bunch of gods, the only god was death itself.

Speaking of Syrio...is he dead? IIRC the book kinda alluded to him dying saving Arya but I am a little fuzzy.

I've wondered about that too because you definitely didn't see him die in the show. It didn't look good for him, but I wouldn't be shocked if he popped up again somewhere.

I hope so. I really liked his scenes w/ Arya in s1 and his famous quote "there is only one thing we say to death, not today" :smokin

And the director of this episode was Michelle Maclaren, who has directed a lot of Breaking Bad episodes.
