IDK if we should put this in the book thread or this tv thread. but i had a friend skip book 2 because she saw season 2.
I was trying to tell her why that's a bad move;. but she doesn't care. I need a list of things that were different in book 2 to season 2. (if it spoils this thread I'll ask this same question in the book thread.)

Just off the top of my head...

- the whole arya storyline
- how the winterfell situation went down
- quarth, house of undying etc
- robbs battles were also different

Everything else was loosely on point

just read the GOT wiki that had a long list
it didnt occur to me that one of danys khal had the head sent back

but they also explained how dany in the book wouldnt do some of the things she did. how book dany is more compassionate

Man I'm glad I've read all the books already, because I can already foresee someone spoiling major plot points for season 3.

The season premiere is about 3 weeks away and I already noticed a few posts that were edited for this same reason.

That's why I suggested people refrain from posting book spoilers all together. Posting book spoilers encourages discussion of said spoilers and even if they are in spoilers there are always one or two people who discuss them openly in the thread.

Soooo hyped for season 3. I never really thought I would get so into it after reading the synopsis of the show, but I'm glad gave it a chance. I had to keep reading wikis after each episode or two to fully grasp the storyline because it's so complex. Rewatching the series really helped me put everything together plot wise.

Anyways, does anyone also think this about Jon Snow? (spoilers)
I'm almost sure Jon Snow is a Targaryen, being the son of Rhaegar (Daenerys & Viserys' oldest brother) and Lyanna (Ned's deceased sister). There are a couple of hints that Ned gives in the first couple episodes that made me realize it. That would be so crazy if he actually was a Targaryen, it would put a lot more twists to the story.

that's kinda what we want to avoid in this thread and that question has been discussed in the book thread.

woops, didn't even realize there was a book thread lol. I guess I'll go check that out

The majority of people refuse to participate in the book discussion posts for some reason :{. Most of them are only a page or two.

it may take us keeping it bumped. and others contbuting

Is there a newer trailer out? I caught the end of a commercial where they actually showed Varys talking to Tyrion.

Been re-watching season 2 (ts taken me all of two sittings to get through episode 8) and I still can't believe how good this show is.

I haven't read the books, everything I've heard tells me they're phenomenal, but damn man the show is well done too.

Every episode there's a scene or two where I just have to rewind and watch it over and over again.

I'm jist saying melisandre birthing....whew ...
and margery tyrell...can't wait til season 3

I have seen the videos where the new cast members are introduced and they say who they will be playing in season 3. I did not see anyone cast as Mace Tyrell, Paxter Redwyne or Mathis Rowan. There has also been no mention of Willas Tyrell or Garlan Tyrell, the only Reach character that was added was Olenna Tyrell.

If there is to be a full small council meeting and there are no Lords from the Reach, will Olenna, Loras and Margeary represent the entire region of the Reach?

This is not a minor deviation from the book. If the power of the Reach is repesented by a widow; a maid and a knight, who is not an heir to anything, it will imply that the Reach is not all that powerful. That would mean that the Lannisters are not dependant on High Garden's power and that changes the arc of the whole story a great deal.

I do not mind some simplfications due to time and budget constraints created by making a TV show but some of these changes are creating a butterfly effect about which GRRM himself warned. I am worriedGame of Thrones will beTrue Blood and will deviate far from the orginal source material. The ASOIAF Books are wonderful and I would hate to see the HBO show, in future seasons, become some ossified, puerile, kitchy faux-medieval comic book, which is where it would go if it is allowed to go the rouTrue Blood..

Relax, are you from highgarden or something bruh?

I'm sure there will have to be mace tyrel, but even he won't be necessary until next season if the episode list is spot on.

This show has been too well done to deserve any doubts or criticism. Especially before even seeing a episode this year. Even with the liberties they've taken, the show is as good as it gets.

I'd guess they're only introducing characters that are going to be around for more than a couple scenes in one or two episodes. The Tyrells outside of Olenna and Margeary don't play the biggest roles until the 2nd half. I don't wanna spoil anything for anyone so I'll leave it at that. They didn't introduce anyone for Oberyn either but you didn't mention that :lol

In fact Rex, I may post what I meant to post in here in the book thread.

Haha Easter Sunday too? Can't wait, Ill be feasting like King Robert, rewatching season 2 in the meantime
