I don’t think it’s about her being the mad queen. I think the theme of the show is that people who seek power are corrupted by it. Obtaining power had always come easy to Dany but she had several instances where it was difficult to maintain it. She learned that only two things can maintain power: love and fear. She first gained power when she gained influence over Drogo. Once he died she lost the love of the Dothraki and couldn’t maintain it through fear. Everywhere she went she tried the love approach first and resorted to fear if/when love didn’t work.

She sought the love of the people in Westeros and got it from some. She genuinely loved Jon as she did Drogo but like Drogo she tried to use that love to influence him to her advantage. Maybe consciously; maybe the thirst for power is just her nature. As she lost true allies in Westeros she believed the people would never love here there. She mentioned this at least twice. She chose fear. Period. She believed all along that she knew what was best for the people (and she may have been right), but when they did not accept her with love she forced them to with fear.

She never showed mercy to an enemy unless it helped her obtain the love she sought. She wanted to take her dragons to KL several times in season 7 but people advised her that wasn’t the way to get the people to love her. She sought to rule. Through love if possible, but through fear if not.

Throughout the show we saw those who were given a taste of power and wanted more and people who sought power become poor rulers. Robert never wanted to be king but he also didn’t care so he was a bad king but not cruel. Joffrey wanted the power all along and was cruel. Cersei didn’t even want to be queen at first. She was ruthless but everything she did was for her children until two of them were killed and the Tyrells and High Sept turned Tommen against her. Once all she had was power she’d do anything to keep it. We all know Ramsey and Euron.

Meanwhile people who were named and didn’t seek the power tended to be better: Robb, Jon, Tommen, Yara, Bran, Tyrion.

Perfectly laid out, hopefully H2H understands this better....she was an extremely flawed character....at her very core she always seek ultimate domination, i DONT think that’s a trait any ruler should have and that’s why democracy exists or at least the idea of it. Having Kings and Queens is as far from EQUALITY as you can get....so NO she was never in search for equality.

and thats why the council rejected the idea right?

cuz they wanted to keep the power to select their puppets themselves

You keep deflecting, when did I ever agree with that BS council? However if I’m to pick my poison, I rather go for the king/queen that doesn’t have a pet dragon and two blood thirsty armies that won’t hesitste to kill everyone to prove a point that SHE and onLY SHE is in control...what do we call that? A TYRANT.

no you go for the king that will kill you if you even a thought he doesnt like cuz he knows all and sees all

real freedom there

and there have been numerous times dany has hesitated

a benevelont tyrant or shady manipulative non empathic omnipotent overlord?

dany just didnt want slavery and feudalism to continue to crush ppl

were you against dany campaign from the beginning of the show?

was dany a tyrant when she had nothing?

season 2 on TD was buns but that's my top 3 too

I honestly didn't mind it. Every great show except the Sopranos had a drop-off season. Season 1 of True Detective was so good, anything that followed was gonna be nowhere near as good. Different directors as well.

if dany committed a crime why didnt they put her on trial?

theres no way what jon did was honorable

Dude stop DEFLECTING!!!!!!! This is why a legit discussion can’t be had with you, because you refuse to accept logic and instead make **** up and deflect , deflect , deflect, i never once agreed with Bran as king, i thought that was legit stupid and so did majority of fans.

I wasn’t agaisnt Dany getting the throne, she started to get really annoying once she got to Dragon Stone and started demanding everyone that came to her to bend the knee and sending threats and claiming titles...that’s when I checked out of her character, but even after that I didn’t completely hate her...just found her Sansa level annoying....but after her flex episode over KL I was all for having ANYONE that was still alive to rule but her, because she lost her humanity on that episode and became a murderous tyrant....so while Bran was a dumb choice, Bran >>>> Tyrant Dany.

You and your scenarios :lol

I’ll preface by saying I too don’t agree with the Mad Queen angle they took but with what was presented on screen, who the hell was about to put her on trial?

Someone even suggests that and they’re getting roasted into oblivion because she would claim treason. Jon did the only thing he could do.

they had trials by combat as a custom

if jon and co thought what she did was so wrong then name a champion and squab it out

losers side is exiled

since thats an apt punishment for murder ala jon

This man said put the lady with a Giant dragon that decimated a whole city on trial...then he wonders why people call him stupid and can’t have a legit discussion about the show with him, dude deflects with nothing but stupidity.

Are you ***** real!!??? The woman that just killed thousands of innocents, is gonna compromise with the losing side, why exactly???? She had absolute power at that point...lmao omg dude

yea and having absolute power them dudes are supposed to play their position

instead jon manipulates her, lowers her defense with a kiss then kills her surreptiously

and this is honorable?

this is the guy who always does the right thing?

why not let dany atone for her "mistake"?

second chances, dont exist? learning from mistakes?

nah just kill and ask questions later

She didn’t end any slavery Season 1. She was just entitled. The whole way through.

i didnt say from season 1 said her campaign for the throne

that started the moment the dragons hatched

what makes her entitled any more than any one else?

did you hate sansa for that reason too wanting to marry joffrey?

think you're talking about sansa on this one

dany started out as a pawn to play for her brother's ambitions and then got gifted to a khal to help further and then ultimately end said ambitions
