Technically, it'll be 9-10 months since the last two seasons premiered April 1st, March 31st

So the last two seasons have started around the same date. It really is pretty amazing how quickly they've been able to get them done considering how much goes into filming a season and the quality of it.

What's even more crazy is the fact they only make 10 episodes. Being that the books are so long and detailed, the show can easily make another three episodes.

But the cost of making an episode is ridiculously high, it's not like the Sopranos or the Wire where they film on local sets. These dudes are filming in all types of places.

Still tho, HBO should cough it up.

The Starks are deeper and stronger than these other families. In the same way Dany can waltz around and raise an army out of nothing, the Starks will always be able to reestablish themselves. They don't have to spend every last minute scheming.

And I know it looks bad for the Starks, but it's not like the Lannisters are that much better off right now. Everyone in the family is miserable, Jaime is missing a hand, and their king/heir is a psychopath.

This is true but they could've came out of this with only a crippled son. It's what could've been that makes it so much worse. From a story perspective I think theyy had to be taken out anyway cuz I can't really imagine how Dany would approach them and how Ned or any other Stark would react.

y'all need to chill.  there's only three dead starks, two of them were "old" (like 35) anyway, and the other 4 kids are making theoretical moves.  Even Sansa whose life sucks right now just got a debit card to that Lannister account.

Things could be worse.

After watching three seasons, watching the videos BigJ has posted, and the summary videos of the families from that comic girl. I've felt like I pretty much know everything there is to know now.

Did you decide to start reading the books after already pretty much knowing everything? Is it still that great of a read to start? - I'm really conflicted, not sure if I want to invest so much energy and time into the books since I know so much.

Get audiobooks on the first few books you're conflicted on reading then read the future seasons' books. Listen to it on your commute to work etc. and in a month or two you'll be caught up.

Definitely give the books a read. skipped the first book, read the 2nd book in about 4-5 days and 1/3rd of the way into the 3rd book now for me. There's some noticeable differences between the TV show and the books starting from the 2nd season on, some events were simply skipped over seeing as it wasn't entirely necessary towards the TV show and things of that nature.

I've probably got a hundred pages left in A Game of Thrones and I'm glad I started. Even with the History and Lore video series and general info I've picked up, it's been a lot more interesting to get more details, but mainly the insight and perspective of the characters.

I assume I'll continue on and keep reading past the show. I'm doing it mostly because I've been spoiled about way too many things. Either through trolls online or my own curiosity. A couple times it was Google's auto-complete ruining what happened... I typed in "Robb Stark " and the second result was "Robb Stark dies". SON OF A ***** I yelled.

It's worth it man. So much more detail and a lot more of a look at what's going on in the heads of the characters. As much as I thought I got it before, I've got a whole new understanding for it.

I just decided to read it because I need my fix. It's going to be a long 9-10 months between seasons and rewatching the episodes is only going to get me so far.

I'm not much of a reader. It took me 6 moths to finish World War Z lol), but this has me hooked. I'm 200 pages in after two days. It's definitely worth it.

Just rewatched Season 1 and noticed something. After Ned is killed both Bran and Rickon have the same dream of him being in the Crypt in Winterfell....so im wondering is Rickon a warg also???

Consider all the the Starks have been able to control and order around the wolves, so that's pretty telling.

What's sad about the Starks is they are a small clan compared to the other Great Houses, except for Baratheon which has only Stannis and his family left. Seems like the Lannisters have a bunch of cousins and they married into other families. The Karstarks branched off from the Starks but not sure how close they are. Ned, Brandon and Lyanna are gone. Benjen is still missing. The fate of the Stark kids are up in the air. If they don't have children of their own then the Starks line dies.
