The audio evidence isn’t evidence of anything though, it’s just words. People threaten to kill, rape and harm people all the time don’t mean they actually do it.
While I think it’s pretty obvious he put hands on her, I don’t know anything more about the case and everyone screaming about his certain guilt and not accepting him back are the same people yelling about freeing Britney griner who was actually charged with putting the beats on her partner.
I’m fine with accepting him back because the world isn’t a perfect place. Our current US president and our last have both been credibly accused of sexual assault.
People worship Kobe/Ronaldo two rapists themselves.
I don’t look to athletes to be moral figures. I also consider Greenwood a kid (he was 19 when this happened) and I’m willing to be more forgiving of a teenager making a really big mistake than an adult.
My guess is United really value him and will wait till next season to reintroduce him because his talent is worth the backlash to them from a financial standpoint.
She and her family have clearly forgiven him, and while women who are domestically abused often go back to their abuser, I think suggesting she doesn’t know what she is doing etc. is suggesting that women are incapable of making choices for themselves and lack agency.
It certainly is going to add a darker feeling to this feel-good season however. He was my fav United player before this, and I can comfortably say he won’t be going forward though I can accept him
back to the club.
