Funny how now the trend is wearing baggy pants again and covering like 90% of the shoe. When it comes to 1s I think they look goofy with shorts and look best with more slim jeans or joggers. Gotta flex the entire shoe IMO. They look to good to hide any part of em

Honestly, this is a great point and lowkey also might explain a part of the reason why AJ 1s aren’t trending anymore like they used to.

Reminds me of the 90s/early 2000s where people didn’t like AJ 1s because they preferred bulkier models as they looked better with the baggier fits of the time.

A classic never dies. Are there ebbs and flows? Absolutely. But you would never look classy or professional wearing a pair of AJ 6's with slacks.

For sure but AJ 1s are currently lining Nike Outlets everywhere. The demand for them has fallen off of a cliff.

The youth aren’t feeling the model anymore and have moved on. They aren’t considered “cool” or “trendy” on Instagram or TikTok.

Does that mean they aren’t still a classic model? Obviously not.

Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love AJ 1s but I also realize dudes in their late 20-40s (and older dudes) on a website like NT aren’t exactly the arbiters of what is fashionable and trendy lol

This is true. Def don’t see many J1s in my college classrooms anymore. A lot of kids think of them the way they think of Yeezy 350s. Basically they wore them so much that they played out now. The both reached their highest heights at the same time for GEN Z. Now they wear NB, ASICS, Crocs, Uggs, Birkenstocks etc

But last Spring I did see Jordan 5s start to re-emerge. Especially that Olive retro. That’s when it hit me. The next evolution of this Y2K retro resurgence is gonna be some Js that have been left behind but fit good with baggier pants. These kids are about to start dressing like Chuck English

Agree to this. And younger people nowadays are looking for something comfy in their retros. I noticed most kids, at least here in the PH, they wear a lot of Vomeros, V2Ks, Asics, etc. because to them, Jordans in general are too bulky and stiff.

Meanwhile, majority of the consumers who buy J's are from the older generation, and some of em even prefer to wear retro runners too lol

AF 1s were historically cheap and IMO are more comfortable than AJ 1s.

With AJ 1 OG Highs retailing at $180, they also cut off accessibility to a lot of people. I know they’re constantly on sale but I think the increased retail prices (up from like $130 retail10-11 years ago) probably also negatively impacted the model’s popularity.
