I wish they would do away with the Mid (and the not really low Low) completely. Just have an 85 High, OG HIgh, 85 Low, and OG Low. Simplify and cut the more reprehensible stuff. Every line is convoluted, but the 1 in general is far too complicated and varied, and we're not even talking about the Zoom Comfort or all the weird WMNS variants.

I'm sure they sell more mids than highs. Most people don't care. They buy based on if they like the color and could care less if it's a jumpman or Nike Air and if it's a half a centimeter difference in height. They look at it as the same.

A lot of you wouldn't make money in business. You want companies to appeal to the minority.

I don’t think people here care about the money Nike/JB makes and how much they can maximize profits for themselves, just the overall product they put out. Mids are definitely a massive money maker for them but it’s also easy to see why they are so hated by the sneaker enthusiast community as a whole.

Sorry for going a bit off topic, I've heard people here say they've returned unworn shoes up to a year after purchasing? I bought some shoes a half size down since they were selling out nearly 6 months ago, but they re-stocked and I was able to get my size. I did the Nike chat, but they said they have a 60 day return policy. Original purchase is still new and unworn. Are the chat reps wrong? Did they change the policy recently? Thanks in advance.

^ I actually did a return for something about 6 months after purchasing as well. It makes you confirm with an agent since it’s past 60 days, but they just wanted me to confirm the item was unworn. Once I did, they sent me a label and inspected it once I reached the return hub, and once it was cleared I got my refund. Could just be the particular agent you worked with?

Just start another chat with a new agent. You can return unworn stuff indefinitely.

Yeah, I thought it was weird when they said they have a 60 day return policy even on unworn items. In my mind I thought that can't be right, I thought people could return unworn stuff for a long time.

Yeah, that's what I thought as well.
Try to return in store if you can

Thanks, might try to go in store if I can.

Was recently in japan and a lot of their sneaker shops carry mids. Atmos, snkrdunk, ABC mart, and plenty of random local shops probably had as many mids as highs on their walls. Noticed that a lot of customers were wearing them too.

Like you said, the average consumer doesn’t care about the centimeters of difference like we do.. plus mids come at a significantly more affordable price point, so they’re more accessible to folks.

When 1's and dunks were hot a couple of years ago I had a co-worker ask me how to get a pair. I was explaining how to get a pair of Nike Air 1's and using SNKRS/raffles and she looked at me blankly. Then she went to Footlockers website and saw some mids and was wondering why I was making her jump through hoops. I was trying to explain the difference in OG's and mids and she again looked at me blankly, because she looked at them as the same. I realized I was wasting my time and it really didn't matter, because it really doesn't. Only to our 1%.

But if "the average customer" doesn't care (between mid and high) and the knowledgeable and passionate fans do care, why not lean towards the preferences of the customers that actual do care? Is it that much cheaper to make mids than highs? I've seen great materials on mids and terrible material on highs, so it's not as simple as the quality of material. Is that extra couple CM or two of height that much of a difference in material cost? If that's so, then why add the extra collar material/panel on the non-og "Lows" that they release? Their existence just doesn't make sense to me, especially in the volume that they do.

for $90 out the door at undftd why not

You seem to struggle with the concept of business... The goal is to make money, catering to just sneaker enthusiasts would have Nike bankrupt. Like Magic33 Magic33 the average consumer just likes good cws regardless of the model. I have one pair of mids and I wore them last week and got more compliments than I've ever gotten on any of my og high retros lol. Most don't care about anything you're talking about, they're just looking for cool colorways. You're making it deeper than what it is.

Supply and demand is one of the ways making money works. Nike wants to move unit’s, most people just see a trend and ride it. Panda dunks and Air Force 1 leather is probably some of the worst leather of all time and they can’t sell enough of those. We are not regular consumers, we over consume and actually buy more products that we have slight issues with more than the ignorant mass public. I remember getting my first pair of adidas forum 84’s and was mad because adidas produced a way better quality product at a lower price point that could rival Jordan 1s high in terms of versatility.

It seems like quality with Nike/JB is always a mixed bag-I honestly wonder if it is because of the sheer number of shoes they produce.

I have every pair they’ve made so far and I can say their better than all their retail counterparts and I own the entire 2015-2019 OG Colorway run
It’s honestly pretty sad it has gotten to the point where fakes are better quality and craftsmanship than actual authentic Nike/JB product…

It makes me wonder if Nike/JB just don’t care or if they intentionally put out inferior product so you can’t get a 1:1 retro and will circle back for the next retro of that shoe in the hopes of getting something closer to the actual OG releases.

To be honest there’s a reason Nike sue’s Bape or the shoe surgeon. One bootlegged the Air Force 1, Nike dunk and Jordan 1 and the other makes customs. The price point takes them out of any type of competition with Nike with Bapes being around the $300 price point and shoe surgeon doesn’t produce anything anywhere near Nike’s price point but they make Nike look bad. Producing a product that blows your product out of the water in terms of creativity and quality highlights their short comings.

Now reps are Nike’s worst nightmare right now. You took your products hyped em up, killed brick and mortar stores, embraced scarcity on the things ppl want most, flooded the market with trash, all the while cutting corners on Quality. Reps are now so close or better than what Nike is churning out at a fraction of the price. Take the Mocha trav high for instance, you can spend $80 and get a pair pair that’s pretty much indistinguishable from the retail pair. You can beat them up and just just go and get another pair without having to deal with a reseller asking for $1000-$1500
