Agree. That is why they are perfect for a Black Toe tongue swap. At least Carmine 1 would get some wear unlike the highlight reels aka Ronald Mcdonalds.

I wouldn't say they fell off, the hype just died down for a little bit which was a good thing IMO.Nike SB has fallen off though. That was something that was long overdue and Nike was just trying to bring some type of hype back to the SB brand.
Thats like Shaq going back to the Lakers. Its over, too late, you know?
The whole release just screamed "struggle" to me....
Nike SB has lost its flame. They don't really release much that looks good anymore anyway. And JB is a cash cow for Nike. So making an SB 1 is Nike's way of 2 birds with 1 stone.
Now that the hype is back, you see them re-releasing gems like the Tiffanys, De La Souls, Skunks. Even new releases like the SOMPs, YoTHs, Civilist, Florida lows, etc are pretty clean too. I think 2014 will end up being a good year for Nike SB.
SB's are more than just dunks, just like JB is more than retros. how many alphas, fusions, and team jordans have flopped?I'm not even going to get into the debate
Nike SB has put out WAY more then 1 wack colorway. They been hit and miss since SB Mids debuted.
SB's prime has been over. You can't compare anything they are doing now to the fat tongue era.
Yeah they have some dope releases here and there, but thats about it.

Those carmine 1's are almost as weak and pathetic as the laney 1's. JB needed to be more selective on which c/w's got the Nike Air treatment

Laney's weren't that bad
.. Gerald made them look pretty good in some of his pics. If I can catch them for about $80 bucks I'm on it. Laneys >>>> Celtics/Hawks IMO.
I definitely agree with you about JB being selective with the NA treatment, all 3 colorways I mentioned plus these Carmines didn't need to be NA models.

They might pop more because they used a brighter color for both the breds and royals compared to the 85 OG's and 2013s. Not hating on the 01s because I had those pairs. I can say the recent 2013 retro stayed true to the 1985 OG color tone and cut, minus the materials and height of course. I'm leaning towards the 2013s more than the 01s in terms of value down the road because anything that stays true to the course of the original should be considered a better retro. I hear some ppl complaining how the toe box of the 2013s are similar to dunks and not cut sharp and flat like 2001 but have a look at the 85s and tell me if you see that resemblance. Whats even more compelling that never struck me back in 2001 were the widow peaks on that version. They are a bit odd now, considering most of the unauthorized/replicas og 1s have that too. Just my two cents.

Its really is simple too, go back to the old model. OGs = NA, Non-OGs = Jumpman. Wish JB would listen to us on this one.

That carmine CW, like the highlight reels, had lots of potential but was executed badly. Something just looks off for me on that carmine color blocking. But still undecided, mainly because of icey bottom.

I really dig the Laneys and Knicks, just something about them is classic and they remind me of the BTTYS Dunks. Awesome materials as well.
