Honestly, it's cheap material on Melo. Cheap plastic with gold color. Suede nubuck as main form. And around ankle it's plastic mesh.  It clearly got hype because store release randomly with no schedule.  

If you want to go into material in specific, Nouveau 1 beats it by long shot.

I think we can agree to disagree. I'm not a materials snob when it comes to J's. I don't know what plastic you speak of, but I love the look and feel of mine. Thats what matters most to me. I can give them a second look if it makes you feel better. I sew as nearly a full time job. There's a difference between materials you don't like and cheap materials. Gum Sole 1's = low quality leather.  I don't care to go into materials on these Melos...it's not that deep.

You Jordan Material Connoisseurs kill me. Lol. If you don't like the shoe you don't like it, but let's not blame materials as the reason.  

Like I said these were the opposite of hyped. People copped these b/c they like them.

Tbh probably a little bit of both. When I first inquired about them being available I was told the 20th. I went in store 2 days later (a week b4 the 20th) and was told they sold them all. THEN when they started popping up everywhere I went and checked the system on multiple occasions for sizes. I would call a few of those stores that supposedly had those sizes in stock and they acted like they didn't know what I was talking about. I think we all know employees can be shady. Either way, in the dmv there were plenty of Melos to go around for everyone.

Saw these at finishline yesterday, one of the few colorways that caught my eye of recent retro 1 releases.  The lace tips are also infrared and the soles are translucent.  $110 with discount and I may have to go back and get them.

Which Finishline? Been looking for these.

What is the gold material on the toe of the Melos? Looks like neoprene or rubber from pics. The black gum tongue switch is a good idea. Every 1 I've owned with a jm on the tongue got a switch. I can deal with it there somewhat since I can't see it while wearing but can't do with one on the tongue, tjm.

I agree these are not really all that, which is why I didn't cop even below retail. But to each is own. I don't like AJ 1 lows, but it's only because the cut is too low for my taste. A lot of the colorways are nice though. I love my Nike branded highs but all AJ 1's with a jumpan don't look terrible. I like mids and there are many that are way better than some highs out there. As others have said there are Nouveau mids with leathers that poop on any high from last year. I buy what I like, whether there's hype or not, retail or re-sell. Don't let Kanye, your friends, NT or anybody else dictate your style.

Good for people like me. You can get most for under retail not to long after they release which helps even out the high re-sell price of other pairs. Got 2 pairs last month for $177 total. They don't have to make ever pair a super GR but enough where first day re-sell isn't outrageous. They will still sell out and that money that people save can go to the next release. It's a win-win.

Considering most mids look like they were designed by 6 year olds, I would say it makes sense. The only thing more ratchet than mids are phats, fusions, and especially team Jordans... Nothing says "I can't afford REAL Jordans but I'm still trying to look cool" than wearing any of these aforementioned pairs. Once again, JB is laughing all the way to the bank.
