Nvm .
He needs to learn how to create a shot from mid range. He's a decent spot up shooter from the perimeter and can bully his way to the rim, but if those two options aren't available, he's stuck unable to do much. I wish he would pay Olajuwon to work on his post up footwork lol. But also with Brunson being the primary ball handler with Randle, the coaching staff has to make RJ more plays...With Brunson out, RJ def was more aggressive.
This year he’s a bit more selfish though. Idk if it’s because he put the work in and isn’t seeing the results so the frustration of that has him forcing things. By year 4 the game should be slower, he needs to work on being a better playmaker. Would open so more opportunities for him and the team.
I do think he should get heavy minutes against second units. Super 6th man type role.
my gripe with rj is that he tends to resort to trying even harder to score on his own after missing easy shots with the team. he gets tunnel vision, becomes selfish and often makes it more difficult for the team to come together because he's so intent on making up for his usual early game bumblin and stumblin.
jhart, ihart, and grimes in particular were playing cleanup all during the 4th last night.
with brunson out, neither randle or quickley had it either, but rjs 25 pts feel more like a 15 pt contribution tbh
brunson is the glue no doubt, but last night's numbers imply rj was indeed forcing his gameI urge some of the RJ critics take a look at his recent box scores. Again, what games are we watching? Last few, RJ has stopped trying to force his numbers and be more of a cog in the offense.
