I'm sure that all the schools that they were worried about (re: PE Funding), their partners in other conferences, will be involved in these matchups as well to make sure that all is fair in the sport that that everyone is on equal footing.

Because the last thing that those 2 conferences would want to do is to push forth the idea that those two are not superconferences that are above all other schools

Right?

Yet they made the decision to keep the program going. If you’re broke and your program is losing dozens to hundreds of millions year after year the smart business decision is to effectively shut it down. So, why keep it running? Two reasons: 1.) You can afford to, and 2.) You see value in it.

They’re not broke. Research the endowment of every university.

Maybe, maybe not. A lot of programs just don’t fit the system of the programs they enroll in, or a new coaching staff is hired, or maybe they don’t pan out like you said. I’ll still roll the dice on the transfer portal.
A school's academic endowment doesn't necessarily reflect it's athletics fund. Often times the two are intentionally separate. The same way the academic arm of LSU was suffering from financial difficulty and shutting departments, while it's athletics department was making more money than ever before (and stealing funds from a children's hospital at that.) Just because a university as a whole is cash rich, does not mean it has money to fund expensive athletics programs and P5 level football is the most expensive sport there is.

Understood, but one of the UC Board of Regents roles is budget allocation, including financial contracts, conference realignment, and facility improvements (Memorial Stadium). UCLA would not have been able to defect to the B1G without their approval, hence the Calimony.

We’re getting into a little deep into the political portion of college sports and this isn’t what the intended purpose of this thread is for. While I have enjoyed this engagement I’ll digress moving forward. Good talk though 👊🏼

This is kind of corny. I'm a big fan of Travis and I'm glad that he's confident in his ability. If he thinks he deserves a Heisman trophy he should be outspoken about it but there's no need to sit anything about Ashton

In the Travis Hunter conversation and how "we've never seen anything like this", people seem to forget what Champ Bailey did at Georgia. He led Georgia in receiving with 750 yards, was an elite returner and was a first team All-American cornerback. Travis is a more prolific receiver (doing large part to the fact that Shadeur Sanders is a much better quarterback than Quincy Carter lol) but Champ was a better corner.

Interestingly enough the Heisman trophy winner that year was Ricky Williams, a 2000 yard rusher).

On that same note

The “blue blood” status is so odd to me. Okay so you put all of the traditional powerhouses in this category but what about when they suck? Is Nebraska still a blue blood? It is like a tenure thing where you never lose status? :lol
