Bama nailed this hire. DeBoer will keep them in contention for nattys

Was initially thinking that Kirby was gonna be the new sheriff in town running the SEC for the next decade without much resistance but Bama might have a smoother transition than expected.

If they can maintain a semblance of the same recruiting structure/base they've had under Saban, they'll be right up there in the title picture every year with his coaching.

I'm fascinated in seeing his offense in the SEC

I think it's a good hire seeing as some of their top candidates seem to have turned the job down. The big question mark is if Deboer can recruit at an elite level. Washington has had tremendous success in the two years he has been there but they still aren't reaping the rewards on the recruiting trail. Part of this is because of the recruiting disadvantage Washington has geographically but part of it is the coaching staff.

Obviously Alabama's resources, geography and history help but the question remains: can Jalen recruit at an elite level in the pressure cooker of the SEC? The concern some Alabama fans have is that this may be a Bryan Harsin, fish out of water in situation because Jalen has no connections to the South, never coached in the south, has never been known as an elite recruiter in general.

Nick Saban is a great coach but at the end of the day the primary driver of his success at Alabama is the fact that he had the most talented roster in the country for 10 consecutive years. Nick Saban is an absolute maniac on the recruiting trail, Kalen Will have to maintain that level of talent if he wants to win big.

It's a big mentality shift going from Washington (where you take three stars and hope to give yourself a tactical advantage with superior Xs and Os) to Alabama (where the goal is just to have better players and win with superior talent).

Going to be interesting to seeing what Kalen does with his staff.

I can handle being the new Rutgers for a while.

DeBoer was always gonna leave at some point the Saban retirement just sped up the process though ( even if he temporarily stays somehow)
Sad story on Ty from da aepps20 life archives. I went to a private college in Denver that Ty’s daughter Cassidy went to. We had a few classes together and I remember how awful clowns were to her when her dad coached Notre Dame. It was really gross noting that we are miles from ND and our private college had no football team and wasn’t even affiliated with ND.

Gross.

One and only time I rooted for ND was with Ty and Carlyle Holiday

Really interesting to see how many kids Bama loses to the portal the next few days. That can make or break them going into next season

Killing it? The kid they stole from USC seems nice, but they are definitely bringing in comparable production to what they lost last season. Mostly big name kids who hadn’t performed at bigger programs so far.
I considered bringing back comparable production a good thing, especially when they went undefeated in the regular season.

Between the hires they will make, their off field mass of coaches/analysts, and a actual dedications an focus on their NIL collective I think Bama will be just fine at recruiting.

Will they be peak Saban level? I don't think so. But I don't think it'll be a case like Auburn under Harsin or where they will completely fall off of a cliff

I LOVE LOVE LOVE DeBoer hire.

He seems like he'll have no issues with Saban lurking behind the scenes.

Bama should put plexiglass at Saban;s office door and keep everything as is. That should be a shrine.

Rough week to be a Seattle football fan, first Seahawks are eliminated from playoffs, UW loses the ship Monday, couple days later we find out Pete's out as HC and today DeBoer leaves for Alabama...

Wish all the best for DeBoer at Bama' but yea this kina stings after the two year run. Hope UW can find a suitable HC who recruits decently and can be at least competitive in the B1G next season.

Was going to be tough sledding even with Deboer next year with how many guys are leaving + the so so recruiting classes.

Now even more players are probably leaving

Wonder what Will Rodgers will do now

elpablo21 elpablo21 very true and I could see Will Rodgers transferring but maybe he waits on the new HC hire first. Could be in for some rough UW seasons but with the expanded CFP and other factors I think they'll build a competitive program after a couple seasons.

UW needs to hop on a bike and go make Pete say no to them. Then go to Jedd and dare him too.
