N41D N41D this sound accurate about the last realignment? A cali dude said this:

Certainly was not what happened. It was all very transparent. It was originally going to be Oklahoma, OSU, Texas, TAMU, and TT. TAMU was only one on fence and jumped to SEC, promptly replaced with utah (CU jumped first before this to get ahead of anything).

The deal was done. Larry was literally en route via private plane to Austin to announce the deal publicly. ESPN panicked, and played to UTs vanity by throwing them the LHN to keep the b12 together because at that point all indications were that NBC was the leader in clubhouse for the tv rights. Texas got scared and took the LHN deal and blew it all up. Larry landed then got right back on the plane and went home.

There was no political blocking of the move.

About a year or two later Oklahoma did try to come to p12 anyway and even formally applied along with OSU. P12 presidents voted them down over the conference offices recommendation, and THAT was the big mistake the conference made. It was insane decision, and made because at the time the presidents were arrogant because they just signed the $3B tv deal which at the time was the largest tv deal across all conferences and was a full $1B more than estimates - because espn ended up partnering with Fox to outbid NBC afterall.

Really dumb of the presidents to do that. And like 90% of them aren’t even around anymore. Highly likely if OU and OSU had left, UT would’ve come inquiring eventually.”

Texas absolutely wanted to go West last time around.

They tried to pitch A&M on the Pac12, a joint network, etc

A&M always wanted the SEC - they had for YEARS. Even back to when the SWC blew up and LSU/Arkansas moved that way.

I do feel like I remember Texas and OU being close to pulling the trigger and jumping west anyways, but the LHN deal fell into place and Texas turned themselves into kryptonite.

Texas and Oklahoma would get $56 million annually if they stayed in the Big 12 in one proposal reported by Dodd.

And it would cost $80 million if they withdrew in 2022, which isn’t probably different then what the SEC could give them or cover

ASU placed their TE coach on paid administrative leave.

Pierce, Gill, and Hawkins were the 3 other coaches named as paying out of pocket for players to take trips.

Tate Martell is on the move again. Hard to believe he has two years of eligibility left. To put things in perspective, Tua was in his same recruiting class in his entering his second year in the NFL

Again - yall listening to Kirk Bohls.

A&M might vote no. But everyone knows at this point it's happening.

A&M has more money than everyone in the SEC. They couldn't care less about Texas/OU bringing more cash to the conference. At least not at an athletic department level.

A 'no' vote is nothing more than a middle finger to Texas, in particular, for all the nonsense they've thrown A&M's way for a decade now about killing rivalries, about not needing the SEC, etc.

First time hearing this honestly
Mo Hasan one of the SC players has a pretty good podcast he runs with a former Chiefs WR. He gets the SC players on there talking really candidly about everything.

Slovis said all his extended family are in Michigan and die hard fans but Michigan never recruited him. He did say he honestly didn't really want to play in the cold and that once he visited SC's campus he knew it's where he wanted to go if they offered.

Yea but you also quickly shifted from this isn’t happening because they won’t have the votes to TAMU having to stand pat with their ceremonial but inconsequential vote for no . It’s funny regardless and I don’t have a dog in this fight.

I can’t wait until the ACC adds West Virginia, Marshall, UT-Chattanooga and Elon to their super conference💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
All jokes aside, I've seen a few different times when expansion is brought up that Clemson were the ones blocking the ACC from getting any bigger.
