OFFICIAL 2020 STIMULUS CHECK THREAD

Doubt it still waiting on my March - mid May backpay they said I'd get...
Damn.. that’s terrible luckily I got mine all after a big hassle but still wasn’t enough but more than the minimum for sure. California isn’t cheap so that **** was needed

I wonder if they will backdate payments for unemployment for weeks missed due to sides not agreeing
I think so

funny thing is I just got laid off, corona slowing us down :{

wasn't expecting to get laid off again

BS, not sure how someone can live on $362 a week before taxes :x

good thing I got some side stuff for cash so end of the day im making more than I did working 40 hours at work but still trash what they offer.

When the Dems get in power again. President in office and majority in the senate, they need to grow some balls and start out mitch mcconneling and out gop’ing the gop. Play the same games they play and refuse to compromise on positions. When one side has proven to not operate in good faith time and time again, you gotta beat them at their own game.

Didn't California have to file something to certify for the backpay? Texas doesnt offer that, you have to call to certify, and noone ever answers. I've pretty much written it off. I've emailed them, the department of labor, local politicians months ago and not heard a word back. Still call a minimum of 10 times a day and nothing...

Sounds like Trump is stepping in where Congress failed

You do realize the Democrats have been negotiating exclusively with the WH right? Mark Meadows’ community college *** and Foreclosure King Mnuchin are the ones negotiating with the Democratic leadership. They’re representing Trump. The Republican Senators don’t even have their own **** together. Trump and the GOP sat on this **** for months knowing the end date was coming all they did was tell Americans “It will go away...”and now they throwing **** on the wall and hope something sticks.
I swear it really is....

Man you gotta keep your foot on their neck make them give you yours you’ve paid into it don’t let them not give it to you

Hell they should’ve took the scorched earth route back in Obamas first term when that turtle faced bastard said the GOP’s number 1 priority was making obama a 1 term president.

you can’t play that “let’s all come together” “let’s work together” stuff with a party who doesn’t play by the rules.

Doesn't matter who they are negotiating with. The duty is on Congress. Hopefully Trump can sign an executive order to step in where Congress failed.

Technically I didn't pay into it other than seasonal stocking at DSG in the winter and I didnt make enough there to qualify for even regular UI, I'm an IC with no employees. If it wasn't for the state paying I'd get nothing. I filed 3/13 and didnt even start getting payments until the last week of May. Trust me I've been trying but, noone answers the phone EVER or responds to emails. If they say no, oh well at this point I just want some kind of answer, so I can stop stressing about it so much.

I've been reading though (may be "fake news" that theres only so much he can "legally" do without Congress approving it. I cant stand the guy since way before he became 45, but I do believe hes gonna do whatever he can possibly do shame on him for sitting on his hands this long though. They just need to send a stimulus, while they work this ish out both parties seem to agree on that and 1200 check would take care of alot of people and give them some time to negotiate further.

There are possible legal issues with what's been presented so far, but from a practical standpoint who is going to challenge it?

At the end of the day, most of this is a political exercise. If someone challenges an Executive Order (on a legal basis) to put money in the pockets of Americans it would look bad.

He will probably extend the unemployment payments and do payroll tax cuts. I don't really think the moratorium on evictions will happen.

The whole Republican party is split on the stimulus packages, how can they even negotiate like that. I respect Pelosi for standing her ground, but ultimately now it hurts everyone.... I would have been cool even if they settled on 400.00 PUI.

The fact that the Democrats were unwilling to do a temporary $400/month for 4 months is somewhat astonishing.

Republicans aren't off the hook either, but I am surprised that a temporary agreement couldn't be reached. Especially because the entire landscape could change so much in 4 months.

Bert. Bert. You just cant seem to catch a break missed the EIDL grant and now this. Sorry to hear it man, good luck with everything.

They could have easily just extended it for 30 days or until a deal was reached even, surely by then they could have gotten close to a deal.

I think it was bc the republicans attached that ridiculous shield for businesses to not be liable for the safety of their employees, no?

That could have been part of it, but the headline was that the Democrats were not interested in any short-term deal because the other side was ignoring the bigger issue and essentially kicking the can down the road--that is a fair argument.

The problem is, many people in need are now without any additional aid because they stood on "principle."

The business liability waiver isn't a huge issue when you think about it through the lens of small businesses. A small business owner would likely go bankrupt defending a coronavirus lawsuit.
