I’m generalizing but teams in the ‘90s liked to walk the ball up and throw it to their big lumbering centers in the post and go from there. Jordan was fortunate in the sense that pace was very fast when he came into the league and stayed fast during his athletic prime, then slowed to a crawl as he aged, bottoming out in the late ‘90s/early ‘00s, then began to speed up again after the rule changes in ‘04. So it lined up perfectly for him.
