Older guys was there any backlash around Shaq getting put into the 50 Greatest Players Ever list which was basically just a prediction call?

I don't even remember there being much backlash around calling a 17 year old kid The Chosen One and basically saying he was guaranteed to be the second best ever and no one ever backed off it.
Yes. Plenty. Many felt that Bernard King should have been on the list instead, or 'nique.

Yeah, but that Duke curse tho'. I have a feeling that the kid will be a good player, but not that player if history proves us correct.

I'm a UNC fan and I delight in Duke player's failures in the league. However I can't bring myself to hate Zion as much as I want to I can't. I still think he gets away with pushing off but you can say the same about all of the physically dominating players (Shaq, Bron etc). I hope he's successful....just not this month I need him to lose.

It seems that willful ignorance is in effect. Tactical stupidity is never a good look. However, it does fit some incredibly well.

You love moving goal posts . The league is richer than ever because of tv money. Ratings are kinda important

How am I moving goal posts? Dude is about to start a lebron black excellence rant based off of the league ratings dropping. Lebrons black excellence is great, but he’ll be at home like the rest of us watching and keeping those ratings up.

The league is the league. We got plenty of superstars. There is no void and won’t be for some time.

Bruh you went from who cares about ratings, a silly question tbh, to acting like the league is about to go belly up, to now black excellence. Ratings are important. It's that simple

Yeah, but it wasn’t a ton. The biggest blacklash was Nique not making it.

Appreciate it. I just pulled a list from The Undefeated who tried to update it. Saw Reggie Miller's picture in the header and got annoyed immediately.

Of course ratings are important. Never in the history of me have I watched a game and wondered what the ratings are. Have you?

Some of us are very lucky to not need to live vicariously through these magnificent athletes. We don't need to sit here and try and dissect everything about them, in order to feel good about ourselves. Nor do we need to hide on a specific thread in order to feel comfortable within our ignorance. That bubble is too uncomfortable for people who are confident. We do not mind being challenged, because there is always something to learn. Only an insecure idiot sits still thinking that he knows everything.

Did anyone mention anything about being Black here today?

Presumptuous people really do reveal their biases.

Casual fans aren't tuning in to watch the Clippers play in the playoffs....especially not with Game of Thrones being back.

The NBA and its investors care about ratings. The players care about ratings because it increases playoff shares. Advertisers care, as do endorsers. Back in the day, the NBA was on tape delay. Dr.J was bigger than the game, Jordan, and now LeBron. The NBA needs that player that makes people who do not love the game, want to watch.

The game moves on man. Just like how it did after Magic, Bird, MJ, Iverson, Kobe and so on. This is the next batch of superstars and all of their teams are actually legitimate contenders.

Again, you are twerking. All he said was there's about to be a ratings dip without LeBron which is true and has already happened in the regular season with him moving west

NBA ratings are down 26 percent year-over-year on TNT, six percent on ESPN, and LeBron’s move west is a big reason why
NBA viewership is down 26% on TNT and 6% on ESPN one month into the season. Much of the sharp decline can be attributed to LeBron James’ move to the Western Conference, which has hit viewership for the early-window primetime NBA telecasts particularly hard so far. TNT is averaging 1.79 million viewers after 12 game telecasts, the net’s slowest start to a season in at least a decade.

…For TNT’s early windows this season to date, the net is averaging 1.61 million viewers compared to 2.75 million viewers at the same point last season (zero James games this year vs. two in ’17). But the late windows, which feature more prominent Western Conference teams, are seeing a less-pronounced drop, with two Lakers games to date. Meanwhile, ESPN is down 6% overall after 18 telecasts, averaging 1.69 million viewers compared to 1.79 million. But the net is up compared to the same time frame two years ago (1.61 million viewers for 14 games) … Similar to TNT, ESPN’s early window is seeing a drop (-16%), as there were three Cavaliers/James games at this point last year compared to zero Lakers/James games in the early window so far this season

And then he said the players need that $200k playoff bonus.

That conversation ain’t going anywhere, Stanley.

In all seriousness, as much as we don't wanna go down the rabbit hole, its better than the usual Bron this Bron that nonsense

All while the Lakers have been a lottery team.

“Something something something the league is better when the Lakers are good something something”

Part of it is revenue sharing and all the money the Lakers bring in with that mega tv deal despite being trash tho
