if they bring it to the the league, they would get an independent doctor to examine kawhi. if he is cleared, then he is ******. they void his pay and still own his rights
and if it is shown he is is indeed injured, do the lakers risk it on someone with a severe injury? i think they still, but it's still a risk

he is better off just hot dogging it out there, but spurs could also say he is acting in a behavior detrimental to the team and try to void his contract base on that. spurs have more leverage
